I saw Bushie's Urban League speech on Fox.

Good job, and standing "O".

Do you get to see him this trip? I'm jealous, as always.

MSM has assured us that Teresa is "refreshingly outspoken" (vs. just plain nuts).

Now they are telling us that Elizabeth Edwards is "unpretentious" because she showed up in a red hooded sweatshirt and pants two sizes two big at a campaign event.

Edwards in that photo looks like the character in an episode of "Seinfeld" who dated Elaine and said, "I'm the Wiz and nobody beats me!"

"Unpretentious" is NY Times codespeak for frumpy, but only when applied to Democrat women.

One advice giver has been Tipper Gore, who as Al Gore's wife has plenty of campaign experience. "Tipper's advice was," Mrs. Edwards said, " 'Don't let it get to you. Just ride the top of the wave.' I had heard that she wouldn't read press clippings. I do. I'll go to the most viciously Republican Web sites and read this stuff, because it just hardens you, it makes you stronger.''

Mrs. Edwards, if you're reading this, I apologize for that "frumpy" remark.

The Urban League speech was a closed event so I didn't go.

The campaign assures me that we will be getting him along with other big guns in my district before the election. We were supposed to have someone big on Tuesday for Women for W, but they moved the venue to Grand Rapids. Grrrrrr.

There was a scene with the Edwardses on a campaign bus

I only caught the last 45 minutes and missed the Breck Girl's semi-tantrum darnit. But this jumped out, Liz's hair. Whoa, what could cause hair to be that bad? Genes or a vindictive hairdresser with the recipe for the worst hair cut ever?

M, since you are the uber baker I have a question. I bought some of those Atkin low carb muffin mixes and didn't read the directions before I left the store. The one for corn muffins says to use heavy cream (????) along with water, oil and eggs. Do you think I can get away with using lowfat milk instead of the cream? Maybe substituting the water and the heavy cream with just the milk? I really don't want to have to go back outside to the store, it's like an oven out there!

This is on the "Kitchen Mixes" website:

To substitute 36%-40% Fat Heavy Cream

Combine:
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted and cooled

Use in place of one cup heavy cream.

I saw that manure about Streep and Hughes/Noonan - what a crock. I have Karen Hughes' book - she's no Hillary. And Peggy Noonan, good lord, if Streep really researched either of these two women she'd know they don't fit her rantings. However, if she'd have read Milton's book on the Beaste, she'd see quite clearly from whom to take her cue.

Thanks so much, didn't even think of google (sigh).

Listening to Ted Kennedy on HardlyAnyBall,,,,!!!,,, uh, his big problem with GWB is that he doesn't get up every morning and worry about the poor and middle class. Maybe it's time for Teddy to read our constitution again.

Wow, Hazel O'Leary aka wildthing.

Johnathan Last asks, If Bush is such a dictator, why can't he even stifle dissent in his own bookstore? If you hadn't seen it yet, it's a nice piece on the plethora of Bush bashing books at the National Archive's bookstore. And included is this quote from clinton in a lefty book of essays on "Imperial Crusades" (who for an unknown reason to me) is arguing against the war on Afghanistan.

"Is it clear that all Taliban members were accomplices of Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden? And if they were accomplices, is it not true that the better legal systems of the world do not punish accomplices to a crime as severely as the criminals themselves?"

There is only one thing that I agree with Richard Clark post Bush administration about, that is we might have been able to thwart to at the very least make the 9/11 hijackers uncomfortable. If only we had alerted the public along with the appropriate government to this very serious looming problem. Clark neglects to tell us that had clinton made an issue of bin Laden/al Qaeda back in say,,, 1998, we would have been much better prepared. But no, we had to go save Albanian Muslims. Not that that's a bad thing of course, however to devote the bulk of his bully pulpit to telling us how Slobo was the new Hitler!!!!, while excluding any real effort in getting Pakistan to come along with us to end the Taliban and OBL is well, just so clintonberger. I also have to wonder if the media would have given the republicans in congress any real coverage if they had screamed loud enough. McCollum, former congressman from FL had alerted clinton and congress to what was up, guess he didn't fuss enough and he was busy as one of the prosecutors on impeachment. I put the bulk of the blame on clinton's administration.

Sorry for the rant. What you should know is my FIL reallys liked the chicken/broccoli casserole and it was his first request when I asked what's on his menu this week. I told him all thanks go to you. :-)

Now that you mention it...

Note to self: Check Liz's feet at next chance.

Sorry I wasn't around to answer the cream substitution question - I hope J's answer did the trick. My first thought was that I saw no problem using milk.

Woo hoo, there's an Andrews Sisters movie on Turner Classic Movies - must run!

W was back to form today at the Urban League. His speech at the Presidential Dinner was so-so (mho) and was wondering what had him off his usual style but today's speech was absolutely beautiful.

W and B lookin' good...

From today's online chat with Jenna and Barbara:

"I went to my first rally with my dad two weeks ago in Michigan and was completely floored by the event," Barbara Bush said. "As I sat on stage waiting for my dad to deliver his remarks, I was so overcome by the unbelievable excitement in the room, watching so many people yell and chant for my father, I could not help but get tears in my eyes." story

No more misunderappreciating dad after that.

Quite alright. If you think that milk would be an OK substitute instead of the butter concoction I'll use that because we have to keep FIL's sugar and fat down. 10-Q.

My daughter loves the 40's, I'll give her a call and alert her to the Andrew sister's fun.

Hi All - I am a new Freeper and was wondering what the Guild is all about? Thanks in advance!

Welcome PatriotGirl827! One Guild member sums our thread this way, A stylish look at news, fashion, politics and gossip.

On the front page of FR is a link that will take you to all the Guild threads.

A strand of pearls and a deviled egg dish are the only requirements for membership, we will lend ours if in need. We like the president but don't get crazy if you have a differing opinion of him, unless it's unnecessary bashing.

Will add you to our ping list if you like.
