Do you happen to know if Kerry's dad married a rich woman? The thought wandered in yesterday.

Them Brits don't take kindly to shameless liars.

Changing His 'Life' to Suit British Law (Clinton has to tell the truth!)

Btw, have you noticed the sudden Chip Carter (Jimmah's boy) media blitz? I didn't even know that Carter had a son!

But then there's lots I don't know. Last night I learned Nelson Rockefeller was Ford's VP pick after Nixon stepped down. However, GHWBush was high on Ford's list and as 41 tells it, they were at home watching the news coverage waiting to see who Ford would pick when the phone rang. It was Ford, who picked up the phone in the last seconds before he made the announcement to tell 41 he was picking someone else and let him know how much he appreciated all GHWB had done for him.

Another interesting detail about 41. He said only once had he ever written a letter to a publication to complain about their nasty (my word) treatment of him. And it was to Pinchy Schultzberger! About that stupid scanner incident. GHWB was really angry about the story because he wasn't out of touch, it was brand new technology he was looking at at a show for new tech and the little weasel writer at the NYT's wasn't even there.

Kerry lived in Colorado for four months!! (He served in Viet Nam for four months only also

He lived longer in Switzerland and Norway than any other place until he returned from his "service" in Vietnam. Maybe he should be campaigning in Geneva.

Kerry's dad married Rosemary Forbes. Her family was wealthy but there were lots of kids and there was not much money (relatively speaking) but they were society bluebloods. I think, can't quite remember, there was a rich aunt who helped out with the money and houses. Cauz Johnny and his sibs went to the right schools etc and travelled all over.

There's lots of good stuff in Kerry's family background and I hope it all comes out during this getting to know JFK campaign.

One thing of interest to voters is that Kerry's father died of prostate cancer...gee, we really need to see his medical records. He is not even one year post surgery for his cancer and we all now he looks not well.

When I told Mr. M that Kerry and Edwards were coming to our area (something I mentioned several posts ago) on a big post-convention tour, his first reaction was that Kerry would be so worn out after that he'd have to take a week off. Effin just doesn't look well. He has to take a lot of "breaks" from campaigning, and it's not all for Botox or body bronzing (which don't make him look any better!). Perhaps I shouldn't add that Mr. M's first reaction when I showed him the photos of Elizabeth Edwards posted previously on this thread was, "Yikes, she's a pig!" He's so judgmental!

In other news, I'm not Jewish, but if I were, I don't think I'd find this amusing:

He didn't get to read from the Torah. But Simon, donning a prayer shawl and yarmulke, was surrounded by family, furry friends and platters of bagels as the Coton de Tulear recently celebrated his "bark" mitzvah.

"It's just another one of those things New York City dog owners do," said Simon's owner Beth Aronson, 27, a Manhattan sales executive. "He's a very socialized dog, and for him it was a happy occasion." rest of story

Oy!

Thanks for the details! Looking forward to all the dirt that's fit to ignore by the NYT.

Two horrible thoughts: should Effin' get into office, do you think he'd appoint the beast to something like AG or Sec'y. of State? *shudder*

Well you must tell Mr. M. not to worry because, according to UPI, Kerry got re-energized and invigorated after his recent six day vacation.....this is an amazing article, I thought for sure it was a satire from the Onion but it is for real, this reporter really sees it this way...Commentary: A recharged Kerry By Martin Sieff UPI Senior News Analyst

....Kite-surfing off Nantucket has been good for him. It was not supposed to be this way. Gleeful Republicans and nervous Democrats alike interpreted Kerry's determination to go back to his favorite holiday resort as a sign of self-indulgence, even decadence.

Many of them feared or hoped that the Massachusetts senator whose middle name is Forbes and who can trace his ancestry back four centuries through the oldest families of his state looked set to alienate millions of crucial mainstream voters by hobnobbing among the elite right before his make-or-break appearance at the Boston convention.

It has turned out far differently. The Spanish and British celebrity weekly "Hola!" this week showed a tanned and vigorous Kerry boldly kite-surfing on the coast off Cape Cod. The 60-year-old senator who is to be crowned officially as his party's presidential election standard-bearer in Boston next week came across as a dynamic, athletic figure. Often described as stiff and out of touch in his public appearances, he came to life in action, his long, gangling Lincolnesque frame at ease amid the surf and the waves. He was clearly enjoying himself.

The effect of his trip appears to have run far deeper. For Kerry returned to the political arena a recharged, even -- for the moment at least -- transformed man.

The article goes on to knock both Bush and Reagan...totally amazing.

And can you picture Honest Abe riding the waves ala Kerry?

I had heard some speculation that if Kerry gets elected heywill appoint Hillary to the Supreme Court, possibly Chief Justice. I do not believe that though. Hillary could not stand to actually work every day, at least for 6 months. She needs a job she can flit around the world at will.

Here are a couple of articles that bear out what you and Rush think-that there are way too many folks involved in the campaign.

We need bold leadership in these dangerous times. Thank goodness the tanned and vigorous windsurfer is ready to stand in the gap, so to speak, and solve the thorny issues of the day (like whether to wear Speedos or trunks).

Just saw the Effin crowd cheering as he held up a 4-leaf clover someone had given him-----"We-are-going-to-take-it-all-the-way-to-the-White-House", Kerry intoned.

There's that "tin ear" again.

sKerry carries around a 4-leaf clover. Dubya carries with him the shield of fallen NYPD officer George Howard, given to him by Howard's mother on "bullhorn" day.

Speaking of Dubya, his mama taught him well. He's gone to ground at the ranch, letting Effin have the spotlight druing convention week. How much ya wanna bet sKerry doesn't go dark during the RNC convention?!

W is going to hit the trail next Friday...I would expect Kerry would take the week off during the Republican convention - not to be polite but because he will want to get to Nantucket and hobnob with the rich and famous. I understand August is the MONTH to be there.

Rush said that he is the laziest presidential candidate since Adlai Stevenson...but he is such a dork that his numbers go up when is out of view...lol...

Well, the campaign took half of your advice about dressing in casual clothes and campaigning outside....is Milwaukee having a cold spell?

I don't remember where I heard it, but it sure perked up my ears.

John Kerry started using the middle name 'Forbes' after he met John Fitzgerald Kennedy, so he too would be JFK.

Could be true, maybe not. But I wouldn't put it past him.
