To: Professional Engineer

Heya, SuziQ and I got to discussing insulated concrete block/forms the other day and I wanted to get your professional take on them. Big'ol and I are going to be building a house for my mom ( in southern AZ) and need an economical and highly energy efficient building material. ICFs caught my eye.

This site has information regarding another option dependign on the building code and what you want to do. Straw Bale construction.

I don't really have a clue what PE might advise, but I can say that we have talked about eventually buying some land and using strawbale construction to make a sorta hobbithole of our own.
