The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I like a taco salad of sorts, now and then. Crumble up some nacho chips in a bowl, add your beef or chicken meat, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, sliced black olive, some sour cream and some salsa, mix well.

Mmmmm.... makes a big messy bowl of good stuff. :)

One thing to wonder about is that this guy might actually end up a republican someday.

I guess we'll see. But the fact that he chose to be a democrat is what troubles me most of all. His life story all points to someone who could appreciate the concept of personal responsibility, yet he goes to the party that wants government to control everything.

Troubling, to be sure.

Barak Obama. Running for senate in Illinois (unopposed). He's the "great colored hope" of the dems this year. Very well spoken... articulate... and sadly just as liberal as anything else that spews forth out of the Daly Machine in Chicago.

Kindof an interesting life story. Mother is a white professor from Kansas, and father was a Kenyan student.

He's certainly somebody to watch. He's going to be a player in the Senate. I gotta wonder though if he isn't a closet republican just needing to be wrested from the clutches of the dem party cult. He's only a couple of days of deprogramming away from being a conservative.

His speech tonight started out as though it could have been given at the GOP convention. It lapsed, and I thought a little awkwardly, into the same old pre-programmed liberal cliches.

That sounds good, too :) I like taco salad. I especially like it in the edible shell that looks kinda like a dish.

He was is the one that if Mike Ditka had decided to run, he would have run against. This is the same race that the Republican, Jack Ryan, bowed out of after the scandal regarding his ex-wife Jeri Ryan [sigh] and the sex clubs et al.

That's why Obama is running unopposed. No time to get another candidate in place.

Note to dems: Nomatter how good he talks, watch out for anybody who's name ryhmes with Osama. Just a thought.

"Sometimes called a tostada."

That too :) Yeah, those are good. Burritos are my favorite, though.

I have read and done a report on The Matchlock Gun for one of my education classes. It is a good book for kiddos... won the Newbery Medal. Here is what Amazon has to say about it.

Book Description In 1756, New York State was still a British colony, and the French and the Indians were constant threats to Edward and his family. When his father was called away to watch for a raid from the north, only Edward was left to protect Mama and little Trudy. His father had shown him how to use the huge matchlock gun, an old Spanish gun that was twice as long as he was, but would Edward be able to handle it if trouble actually came? This classic, first published in 1941, has an updated, kid-friendly format that includes the original black-and-white illustrations.

Oh dear God... I'm watching, but in caption mode.

It's kinda funny, but watching this crap in captions is sorta like watching old b/w films of Mussolini. I look out at the crowd and feel so very sorry for them. They are cheering a lie. The people on the podium that they cheer would sacrifice anything, even the future and the fortunes of the crowd cheering them, for restoration of power. That's the only thing they care about.

Did I really just hear what I though I heard her say? "Global climate change will be reversed."

Dang, too bad we weren't around during the last ice age to reverse that too.
