All farms in the Heartland look like this, don't they, Granny?

That pool must be for cooling off the plow horses.

I am off to see Bush this evening. He's having a private $25,000 a plate dinner tonight in Bloomfield Hills.

Oh yes. That's exactly the kind of spread we all have out in the hitherlands.

Kerry's pool is a bit modest, IMHO. Ours isn't made of cement,,, it's natural. It makes it easier for the cows to easy up to the edge for a drink.

My Senator, Rick Santorum made this remark concerning Kerry's VP choice:“He has no record of accomplishment here in the United States Senate, so he fits in well with the Kerry ticket." - Rick Santorum

You have to love it!

Teresa Heinz Kerry, who inherited a vast family fortune and heads a billion-dollar foundation, said Tuesday she would give up the money to have her first husband back.

``It was a very sad day when that happened,'' Heinz Kerry said, speaking of Sen. John Heinz, heir to the Heinz food fortune, who was killed in a 1991 plane crash. ``I'd rather have my husband alive than that money.''

I saw that you were out of town with your mom - glad everything was okay, but sorry you missed Cheney. It was a great rally. I was just a telling a friend in Texas how much I was enjoying being in a battleground state!

Okay, I've heard you preach about the excellent tax breaks when you buy the heavy SUV's. Do you have a link where I can get up to speed on this matter?

I am fed up with my Tahoe. I loved the first one I had, but have never really felt comfortable driving the second one. Last night I threw the belts off a rear tire (Firestone),,, I was in the middle of nowhere. I got the lug nuts loosened, but I couldn't get the spare to drop down from under the car.

I finally ended up calling a tire repair place and they came out and helped me. I got some comfort out of the difficulty he had in finishing the job I'd started. It cost $20 to get him out there in the Boonies and to repair the tire.

I should have called immediately and kept my white slax & shirt clean. The service call was $20 whether I had the job have done or not.

I'm thinking seriously of an Expedition. Is it going to qualify for this tax break?

I think she's nuttier than a squirrel's stash for the winter, but I believe her when she says she'd give up her money to have John Heinz alive. She adored him.

Thanks. I think I'll check with the accountant before I go to the dealership. Now I know what questions to ask.

I want to know what the rules are before I walk in the door at the dealership.

Good morning, all. Hope you don't mind if I start the day with a prayer request: the husband of my best friend (since our 4th grade days) recently went into complete kidney failure and almost died. Now he's starting dialysis and needs a transplant. If you could say a prayer for Jerry, who is an administrator at a Christian school, I'd appreciate it.

In other news, this ties into an FR thread from yesterday about homosexual activists threatenting to "out" Babs Mikulski (or however it's spelled):

GAY-rights activists are threatening to "out" closeted queers on Capitol Hill as part of their campaign against the proposed constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. The gay-rights Web site www.dearmary.com, named after Vice President Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter, is taking out an ad in gay paper the Washington Blade, Roll Call reports. "If you are gay, end your silence," the ad reads, calling on gays in Congress to "stop aiding and abetting those who would make us second-class citizens." "If Congress wants to debate our private lives in public, we're going to debate their private lives in public," www.dearmary.com founder John Aravosis tells Roll Call, noting there are "lots" of politicians who could be outed. (Page Six)

Also from the loony file, for what it's worth:

COMING out just in time for the Democratic National Con vention is "The Candidate" by Paul Alexander, a journalis tic account of how John Kerry became his party's presidential nominee. One item sure to get attention is a secret memo circulated among Kerry's senior staff leaked to Alexander by a source close to the campaign. Titled "Fighting Back, Staying Strong: A Seven-Point Roadmap to Victory in November," the memo contains especially harsh language about George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove. "At a time when John Kerry was in the Navy in the late '60s," the memo reads, "Rove was hopping from one university to an other — holding on to the deferment he needed to keep him out of Vietnam — and this is the guy who devised attacks on the service of [John] McCain and [Max] Cleland."

Prayers for your friend.

This 'Outing' garbage is blackmail, as far as I am concerned. I thought that we weren't supposed to judge people by their sexuality, but now we can blackmail them for it.

It's such an upside down thinking.

Apparently, Gary Condit's running low on hair mousse or something. Cindy Adams reports he's suing the Globe tabloid.

She's really pretty, but clueless, alas:

'IF THIS country ever dissolves the separation of church and state, I'm out of here! [How do you dissolve something that doesn't exist, except in the tiny febrile minds of liberal judges, politicians and others incapable of reading the Constitution?] I've learned a lot of things from the church, however. I've learned things I like and things I don't like. I think they are equally defining. The next book I plan to read is actually about taking Jesus back from the Right." (LizSmith)

Oh yuck:

.... Looking like a political Brady Bunch - with Kerry, Heinz and Edwards' adult children taking turns cuddling Edwards' two towhead toddlers - the families gathered to pose for a wedding-style photo to illustrate the new political marriage. They said they had spent the previous evening bonding over veal tenderloin and political stories during a long family dinner at Heinz's estate in Pittsburgh. [Veal? Maybe PETA will firebomb Teresa's home for all her sins!]

.... Edwards was supposed to be the star yesterday, but his 4-year-old son, Jack, stole every scene. Smiling and waving at photographers and wriggling away from his mother's attempts to stop him from sucking his thumb, he stared about delightedly. "Jack Edwards is taking over everything," Kerry said, announcing Jack would be their new campaign manager. He and his 6-year-old sister, Emma Claire, inevitably prompted memories of Camelot.

"They are so adorable! It's almost like the Kennedys are back," said Theresa Scott, 53, of Vermilion, Ohio. [I think that's the idea, Theresa]

"Weren't they cute? Omigod! And so well-behaved," said Francis Scalise, 65, a retired teacher. "It's so good to see the families together. The Christian right has preempted the whole idea of family and values - as if Democrats don't have families, too." [Dems not only have them, but exploit them. Look forward to more Jack Edwards and the deceased Edwards son being trotted out early and often]
