Great report! I'm so glad you had the opportunity to get up close. As I noted somewhere, we had family obligations Saturday and couldn't attend the rally that was fewer than 20 miles from our home, but it was good to see such support in our heavily Dem community, as in Cleveland. I expect Pa., Ohio and W.Va. will be seeing much more of the president and vice president in the next few months.

At least he isn't doing that Walter Brennan thing with his thumbs in that photo. (I don't know why that bugs me so much!)

HLL - I think your answers, as edited, are good.

I have been avoiding the tv news, most radio too so I can miss all the slobbering.

Two men of the people, yes indeedy. Oh if someone would ask John - John, how many uninsured children could the sale of just one estate from each of you insure?

THIS could be BIG:
American and Iraqi joint patrols, along with U.S. Special Operations teams, captured two men with explosives in Baghdad on Monday who identified themselves as Iranian intelligence officers, FOX News has confirmed.

Senior officials said it was previously believed that Iran had officers inside Iraq stirring up violence, but this is the first time that self-proclaimed Iranian intelligence agents have been captured within the country.

The Defense officials also confirmed to FOX News that in recent days there has been significant success in tracking down "known bad guys" based on information from local citizens.

There's more...read it all.

New nickname for Kerry and Edwards: "Waffles and Grits."

No "Sore/Loserman", but not bad.

Oh, the humanity! A double hearsay report that President Bush once allegedly called his daughters "pains in the a**"!

My mom, who is a very proper lady indeed, calls her children 'smart a**' whenever we get one over her. It's the only off-color thing I've ever heard her say. I'm sure the twins were a pain, aren't most teenage girls? :)

And I usually enjoy Marianne Means' editorials, but she had an editorial a couple of days ago that made me retch. Basically, Dick Cheney using the f word on the floor of the Senate will make the Presidential race uncivil. And it's ALL the Republicans fault. I'm writing a letter to the editor right now, I was seeing red. I do not agree with Cheney's choice of words, but please, the lack of civility went away a long long time ago. Let's see, one expletive by Cheney and months and months of lies, smears, and comparisons of bush to Hitler and Stalin, and making PResident Bush sound worse than Hussein? Yeah, that's real civil.

I said in a post that I liked Marianne Means' columns. Actually I mixed her up with someone else. I really think Marianne and her beliefs are out in lala land somewhere...

G'mornin'!

Victor Davis Hanson brings us back to reality...with a thud.

Hanson is the most "thinking" columnist out there today. A must read.

When pubbies start on Edwards as a "trial lawyer", we can assume the donkeys will come back with sob stories about his clients' misfortunes.

Question: Are atty's fees part of the public record? If he says he "won" $30 million for the plaintiff, did he get $10 million of it? That's info the pubbies should have on hand.

I'm headed to the beach for a few days. We've rented 3 houses at Orange Beach for a family reunion. Everyone will be there except Stew & Lisa...he's playing in a tourney and the kids are in camp this week. But there will be plenty of other little cousins, so we'll have lots of fun. We'll have 3 boats and Saturday we'll be out in the Gulf watching the Blue Angels show.

There's no TV and no computer. Will y'all ping me to any important developments, please?!! I'll catch up on my return. Thanks.

Edwards would have gotten at least $10 million of a $30 million award. The contingency fee contract usually runs from 33 to 40 percent plus expenses, everything from photocopying to expert witness fees, so the bottom line is that the poor injured client may be considered very lucky if even 50 percent of the total is left after the various lawyer-vultures are through. This is why I spent only 14 months of my legal career with a personal injury firm, and feel like I still should be doing penance, nearly 10 years after leaving the practice of law. It's not an area of practice for the morally intact.

Anyone else think Mrs. Edwards will remain in the background, behind her pretty husband?

The two families spent last night at the 90-acre farm where, Mr Kerry said, they laughed, shared experiences and talked about politics over a dinner of salad, corn pudding and veal tenderloin.

That's some "farm", Johnny. And coincidentally most of your blue collar constituents had veal tenderloin last night too, I'm sure.

Hoosiermama has a fantastic idea,,,, and I'll bet the Guild could help out.

She wants people to check the property tax rolls of all the homes owned by the John/Johns and total up all their toilets,,,

Her theme: How many johns do the John/Johns own,, 'cause the John/Johns do own johns.

LOL

Who can help her out,,, and who can keep track of the results? Please keep me posted.
