Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You confused TheBear and TheHair with the Rita Ann post!

But I just thought I'd let it go.... maybe it would be made clear later ;~D

I always thought David was a really good writer, ever since his "Sin-Eater" series in PPTSSM. I should look for some of his other novels.

Wife was talking to one of the leaders at the airport. Told him our prayer was that his heart will be broken. He doesn't realize how much he has.

The leader assured us it's unavoidable. He's going to be building a house in a poverty-stricken area. And he'll be meeting people who live in cardboard houses. They're staying at an orphanage.

We have high hopes.

Oversized pictures of Marx and Lenin at their entries; a normal-sized pic of Gorby at his, but without his head-mark (apparently in 1983, he was important enough to rate both an article in the VES and an airbrush job); slightly inaccurate line drawings of the M-16 rifle and Claymore mine; etc., etc., etc.

ever since his "Sin-Eater" series in PPTSSM

That's one of my favorite comics stories. I never got the graphic novel of those issues, though, because it had the last two pages of the story reversed! At least the edition I saw in the store did... and I never checked again to see if later printings corrected the mistake. I don't think it's still in print, unfortunately.

Heh.... no response needed.

I am envious of Rosie's college! I need Rosie here!!!

You know, I feel bad talkin' bad about that tech too. He just retired from the air force before he came to work for us. I was tickled to find out we had another vet at the school. But, this guy just doesn't have the sense God gave a goat!

This is the same guy that wiped all hard drives and made no backups when he upgraded instructors to XP. Therefore, many lesson plans and much student information was lost. He just don't get it.

I reckon it's not as clever as I thought...

Couldn't think of another Margaret beside M. Thatcher or M. Mitchell and that just didn't seem to work as well...

Can I apply them to both today?

My friend Jim who always helps me is on vacation right now. I am sure he will have a good laugh and I will get sympathy when he returns. Fortunately he and one other guy are sanity in our IT world!

Now if she'd only grow up...

Growing Older But Not Up
By: Jimmy Buffett

I rounded first never thought of the worst
As I studied the shortstop's position
Crack went my leg like the shell of an egg
Someone call a decent physician
I'm no Pete Rose, I can't pretend
Though my mind is quite flexible, these brittle bones don't bend

Chorus:
I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
Let those winds of time blow over my head
I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead

Sometimes I see me as old manatee
Headin' south as the waters grow colder
Tries to steer clear of the hum-drum so near
It cuts prop scars deep in his shoulder
But that's how it goes (that's how it goes), right to the end
Though his body's quite flexible, that barnacle brain don't bend

Chorus:
I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
Let those winds of time blow over my head
I'd rather die while I'm livin' than live while I'm dead

Now don't get me wrong
This is not a sad song
Just events that I have happened to witness
And time takes its toll as we head for the poll
And no one dies from physical fitness
So what the hell, we'll take it right to the end
As the days grow more complicated the nightlife still wins

Chorus:
I'm growing older but not up
My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck
Let those winds of change blow over my head
I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead
Let those winds of time blow over my head
I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead
