Dude, where's my shroom?
Gosh...I don't seem to remember THAT smurf...
Well, you know what I think...I think you oughta join the air force again! Get the heck away from 'em all...go to Mass with a bunch of other catholic air force people! Then I could send you care packages!
I nearly joined the navy, you know...regret that I never did.
What was Mass like on base?
I dated a guy in the air force, did you know? I dumped him and though I'm happy with how things worked out, I regretted dumping that guy for a long time...he was a real nice fellow. I used to send him care packages too...and before him, I sent packages to "Any Soldier" in Viet Nam...when I was little.
Sending packages sure has changed...
Got the coop spiffed...now for a shower and then to spiff the house!
Hippie Smurf. He was never allowed on-camera. ;-)
And I think she ought to move out to Colorado. She could stay with me until she finds a place, and then next year, I can room with Rosie.
Rosie, who would you like to plan your life for you?
I really, really love it here, though...and I also woulda been put in a management position eventually if I got promoted. I don't like management!
But it's something I think about off and on.
But I'd rather be a family member of a military person than a military person myself at this point, I think.
As for the religious aspect...well, there were about the same proportion as there are in the "real world", for the most part. For the most part, we had very good priests, though.
And I miss the family atmosphere of the military in general at times. People didn't just go home at the end of the day to an entirely different community.
LOL!
I'm flattered that you guys care enough to WANT to plan, seriously! But going away for the weekend made me realize how much I really do love it here. Of course, anywhere can become home, especially if people you like are there...but it IS wonderful here.
Gotta at least come and spend one summer with me, Ruthy and a hippy.
But in any case, one thing I learned from this weekend is that I prefer mountains to ocean. Of course, here it's VEY wooded. I don't think Colorado has that sort of mountain.
You'll have to visit ME at some point too, ya know!
Well, we'll see what you say after you visit me...
We just checked Uhaul rates yesterday and there's been a change in plans. It would have cost $2000!! to rent a Uhaul. So we're renting some sort of cargo van. Which means I'll be getting most of my furniture out there...
Just so long as it isn't a smurf. Those things are kinda scary!
I also have the dumb theme song in my head now...
La la la lalala...
Holy Smokes Batman! Is that number due to mileage? yikes!
*laughing*
Nothing like a little mental trauma to help the decision-making process! ;-)
BTW, the email problem is FIXED!!! after almost six months of not being able to SEND email :-)
Yikes! For that amount, seems like you could practically hire a moving service to do it all for you. Or mail it! That's a LOT!
I'd lend you Van-sama...but I don't think he's quite big enough for your purposes. Plus I'd have to come along.
I think he's done with adventures for awhile, though! Back roads and freeways and ferries, oh my!
Mostly mileage, yeah. When we moved from DC to Pittsburgh, 14 years ago, we rented the biggest U-haul they had and it was less than $300. We hadn't expected prices to increase so much.
Anyway I'll be taking my belongings, which are mostly books, and then buying furniture and such out there. We're hoping to borrow an air mattress off someone so I can take my time finding a bed.
ecurbh ran into the same thing.... and if you were going a direction where they need more trucks, UHaul can be really cheap.
ecurbh ended up just selling most furniture and drivin out with near nothin. Good because this house is already packed with frap, but Bum luck that!
Here in Virginia, I'm two hours from the beach, two hours from the mountains...
But if'n I had to pick, I'd pick the ocean, and then have me a little cabin back in the hills. Something small, kinda like this:
