Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Tree and flower and leaf and grass
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Holy smokes, Rose! Kudos to you for keeping calm in the face of true incompetence and disrespect. Grrrr....
It's unbelievable to me how anyone could think that yelling at and/or disparaging their employees is going to be productive, but it's all too often the case.
I've got a few clients that feel they need to list out all of their educational degrees and achievements when they speak to me so that I recognize they are intellectually superior. Yeah, ok, whatever.
I keep saying to myself that with all of the combined talents in the Hobbit Hole, we could start a business of our own, if only we could figure out what that business would be! I'm sure we'd have great benefits...besides working together, of course! :-)
And and this....
And then, like a cherry on top of the rotten, glass shard-filled ball of yuck-flavored ice cream that was my day,
Pure poetry!!

Yahknow... that guy reeks of bottomfeeder.
He's probably gotten yelled at by his boss for not meeting some target for the training session, and he's forgotten that he's supposed to be an arrow-catcher, not an archer.

We could become an outsource for automated TPS reports! Everybody hates doing TPS reports.

How long has this guy been a supervisor? Does he have *any* supervisory experience whatsoever? Is this his first time?</>He's been in India for about a year, but he was a manager here before that. Apparently, this is his catch phrase, and he uses it with everyone who's complained about this schedure change.
I agree, Wn. This was not "coming correct" to an employee, no matter the ages of the people involved.
I took this job 'cause we needed money, and I'm good at tech support. But I was cleaning up my résumé the other day, after the man asked me the question I couldn't answer; and, you know, there are other things I can do.
To: Wneighbor
Nope, and it wasn't yuck-flavored, either! ;)

Eureka!! TPS reports, faulty fax machines and plenty of Hawaiian shirt days, which would be purely optional of course. ;-)

It's like I keep telling my staff... they keep using the wrong cover sheets on their TPS reports. They keep using the old cover sheet when the memo on the new cover sheets has been out since last week!
Yeah,... oh... and I'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday, m'kay?

I think I'm full-grown now ...
When I leave, I will, perhaps, suggest he find a different, less offensive catch-phrase ...

He's been in India for about a year, They prolly talk to folks like that over there and get by with it. But, we know the turnover rates there too.
I took this job 'cause we needed money, and I'm good at tech support. But I was cleaning up my résumé the other day, after the man asked me the question I couldn't answer; and, you know, there are other things I can do.
There are plenty of other things you can do. Ya know, it never occurred to me that I could teach until I looked for jobs!

Yeah, and I guess you're gonna need me to come in on Sunday too? Riiiiight.
I'll wear plenty of flare. Wouldn't want it to look like I'm just doing the bare minimum or anything.
