The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Shenandoah is too sad ... it always makes me cry.

Several times.

I adore Jimmy Stewart ...

Where did you find that? I've been looking...

My brother bought it somewhere! I'm thinking half.com...he gets a lot of things there.

We ended up listening to Jack Benny most of the way back. Amazing how timeless a lot of that humor is. We did get rather sick of the Lucky Strike jingle, though. We'd all sing along in very bored voices.

I got ya some of those wraps and put them in the mail...plain and Italian seasoned.

Oh, you shouldn't have done that! But on the other hand...I'm looking forward to trying them! They sound really good. Italian seasoned? Yum!

I was bad diet-wise this weekend. I used a lot of my legal foods, but also had s'mores and other junk. Hey, this was my first camping trip in three years, so I guess a splurge was allowed! I'm getting back on track starting tomorrow.

At least it's delightfully non-PC.

I've got some shows when Jello was his sponsor.

"We ended up listening to Jack Benny most of the way back. Amazing how timeless a lot of that humor is."

Jack Benny is great :) A lot of those old shows are still pretty funny. BTW they did some George Burns and Abbott and Costello skits in that play I was telling you about in a post I sent you while you were gone (probably 300 posts ago by now, LOL!). Friday night I went to see this play that recreated old radio shows along with big band music. It was vey cool.

I"m all for scheduling a chat-view sometime soon as well.

Can we do it on a Friday night or something?

BTW, how are you holding up over there? All the BIG fireworks are finally over. Jessi was a bit nervous, but has already settled down. Alyson was more scared of them than Jessi was! LOL!!

Well, we just had a little nap, and Hair is still asleep. Things are just starting to explode outside, so I need to try giving Gidget her meds... never tried to feed pills to a dog before, so wish me luck.

Hair mentioned a pill shooter, so try and look for it. MUCH easier!

Otherwise, hide the pill in cream cheese or something.

If you have to give to to her straight, just open her mouth, stick the pill as far back as you can, then shut her mouth closed and rub her throat so she reflexively swallows.

Just today in Sears I saw a combo VCR/DVD-R deck whose packaging promised easy recording from VHS to DVD and from DVD to VHS. Wish I could remember how much it was, but I'm pretty sure it was under $300. A local business that will make DVDs charges about $25 per. I figure you make 13 or more DVDs, it's paid for itself.

Personally, I'm waiting for prices to drop further or for the new computer budget to come to fruition, but it's an idea for you.
