Daniel 7

At this point the book of Daniel ceases to be in chronological order.

Another point I would like to make is in Daniel 2. Daniel's eye traveled down the image. The strength of the metals progressed from soft (gold) to a very hard (iron). This is a prophetic picture of the military strength of nations that would develop in the future. Also note that the strength of the iron kingdom seems to become diluted over time.
The ten toes, or empires, will be some sort of European federation.

4 "The first was like a lion and had the wings of an eagle. I kept looking until its wings were plucked, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man; a human mind also was given to it.

Pompey the Roman general, Conquered the Holy Land in 63 B.C. Rome ruled Palestine with an iron fist during the time of Christ and afterward. In A.D. 70, the Roman general Vespasian ordered his son, Titus, to destroy Jerusalem. The temple was demolished. Just as Jesus had predicted it would be.
In A.D. 284, Diocletian separated the Eastern Empire from the West and appointed Maximian to rule the eastern realm. A succession of rulers struggled for control over the years, and in A.D. 476, the last Roman emperor, Romulus Augustus, was dethroned. Notice, however, that the Roman Empire was never conquered-it simply fell apart from struggles rising from within. It fell into separate kingdoms, but the spirit of Rome-Europe-is alive and well today. But the thing to pay attentions to is the Little Horn.

v.9-10 And the Ancient of Days took his seat. And the books were open.

v.11-12 The beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given to the burning fire. The rest of the beast, their dominion was taken, but an extension of life was granted to them for an appointed of time.

v.13-14 Son of Man came to the Ancient of Days. He was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away.

v. 15-16 Daniel's spirit was distressed. He approached one who was standing by and ask the meaning of the vision.

The Vision Interpreted

17 'These great beasts, which are four in number, are four kings who will arise from the earth.
18 'But the saints of the Highest One will receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, for all ages to come.'

The Four Beast
v.19-28 23 "Thus he said: 'The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it.
24 'As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings.
25 'He will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and

28 "At this point the revelation ended. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts were greatly alarming me and my face grew pale, but I kept the matter to myself."

JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon called Sunday on all Jews living in France to leave and move to Israel "immediately" after a rise in anti-Semitism.

"Altogether I have to advocate to our brothers in France: Move to Israel as early as possible," Sharon told a meeting of an American Jewish association in Jerusalem.

"That's what I say to Jews all around the world, but there, (France) I think, it's a must. They have to move immediately." Sharon praised the French government for taking action against the "spread of the wildest anti-Semitism" but said that it was struggling against the impact of the growth of the Muslim community.

France is home to Europe's biggest Jewish and Muslim communities, estimated at 600,000 and 5 million respectively.

According to French Interior Ministry statistics, the number of racist incidents has soared this year.

other symbolic aspects of daniel's vision are worthy of note as well - and seem to verify your analysis, particularly in regards to kingdom i.d. - i offer these thoughts with great thanks for all the work being done on this thread to come to clearer understanding of god's word. PRAISE JESUS!!!!

please note; this is what quix earlier described: a dot-connect type of thing. i tend to proceed along these lines at a much slower pace than you seem to, davey, because i want to be as sure as possible....and for me, that seems to manifest as a point-by-point....want it to be in 'concrete' sort of thing. AND... that is not to say that you DONT!

ok, now: eagle's wings (of the lion in 7:4) check out habbakuk 1: 6-8. dont you just love that? scripture and history CONFIRMED (yet again!)

the bear raised up on ONE SIDE = persian ascendancy (over medes)... AND im pretty sure youre on target with the i.d. of the 3 ribs - cool!

leopard/4 wings = from "The Cambridge Ancient History" pgs. 425, 426 : (alexander's) "speed of movement was extraordinary." !!!!!! and 4 heads = the 4 generals! (cassander, lysimachus, ptolemy, & seleucus).

i need more time than i have right now to get more into the 4th beast's stuff.....great stuff! LUB
