Good Morning All. This Saturday has commenced like many others, coffee, a walk with Gypsy around a quadrant of our 'shire' (all is well in the se quad today), checked out a home undergoing renovation, delivered the last of the canna bulbs to a friend at the Barber Shop and a bit of freeping.
However, today is a bit different for us. Last Wednesday we lost a good friend, the wake was last night and funeral is today, I am honored to be a pall bearer.
We moved into our home in 1976, they were our next door neighbors until 1999. Watched the four girls grow up, get married, have children of their own. A very nice family all of whom still live in our town.
Our friend was a Navy Vet of the Korean War, came home married his high school sweetheart and opened a one chair barber shop, ran it himself till he retired a number of years ago. He was gentleman, devoted to his family and outgoing in his volunteer work. He will be missed by many in our area.
There were once many such as he, but their ranks grow thin. His children and grandchildren will doubtless instill the same love of family and country as he had in the coming generations.
Your thoughts about your friend show a lot of love and respect. Sorry you've lost him.
