I'd love to hear more about this when you get back...tell me how it went. I was a rehab nurse for SOOO long and really, rehab is where my heart is.

I was just reflecting on my rehab days...remembered this story...
I was driving around with a patient in a golf cart...just driving around, enjoying the day, having an outing from the rehab center. He'd had a stroke and all he could say (without monumental effort) was "Workin'" He would answer every question with that word.
So we were just driving around and I was talking and I mentioned it was Steve's birthday. Well, he immediately began practicing saying "Happy Birthday"!! Two words together! A big deal! I helped him and we worked on it for a while, just driving around.
After a while, we saw Steve sitting outside with another patient and I pulled over and my patient started saying "Happy Birthday" to Steve. It took him forever, but he finally got it out.
Steve was, well...very moved, I'll just say. (He's a tough dwarf, after all...but they gots feelin's too, yuh know...)
I loved head trauma rehab...if I ever go back, I think that's what I'll go back to.

Heh...I guess I can't complain about mowing my lawn, no? At least I don't have to travel to do it.
that's why I loves yuh so... I'll give yuh a debrief when I get back...

I just went to forward a recipe to myself and sent it to an e-mail list I'm on instead. I'm feeling rather mortified.
Especially as Dad is on it and it's a sugar-free recipe, something he scorns. I've never confessed that I'm on this diet as I don't wanna deal with the discussion - he and my siblings would be merciless. I figure once I reach goal I'll tell 'em, but...
