Happiness is found along the road, not at the end of the journey.
I differ with that slightly. I say, "You can only enjoy the journey if the destination is desirable". I always form an opinion of a person by how they respond.

Hmm, that seems to contrast with, "Life is a journey, not a destination."
Some of the most exciting journeys are to unknown destinations. It has also been commented that nothing sharpens the senses quite so much as the "journey" to one's execution.
That's a bit extreme, though. I guess my feeling is, if your eyes are only focussed on the horizon, you're going to miss a lot along the way. My philosophy is that joy can be found in everything that presents itself to our gaze, and every indrawn breath is an inspiration.

(You don't find happiness, you WILL it -- just as you will an open hand, instead of a clenched fist.)
