Journeys End
The days journey back to shore,
Ends much as it begins.
One hopes the boat rides deeper,
In the water that its in.
Thanks to the weight of meals aboard,
Still wearing shells and scales.
It is a work environment,
Out in the sea in sails.
Some think that there is pleasure,
Joining the sea and wind,
For those who work the lines at sea,
The joys at journeys end.
For any harsh and rough life,
The rule seems much the same,
The harder you work for daily bread,
The less it feels a game.
And while the work has its rewards,
And keeps the table fed,
The journeys end has great appeal,
After our prayers are said.

By the Sea
by William Wordsworth
It is a beauteous evening, calm and free;
The holy time is quiet as a nun
Breathless with adoration; the broad sun
Is sinking down in its tranquility;
The gentleness of heaven is on the sea:
Listen! the mighty Being is awake,
And doth with his eternal motion make
A sound like thunder - everlastingly.
Dear child! dear girl! that walkest with me here,
If thou appear untouched by solemn thought
Thy nature is not therefore less divine:
Thou liest in Abraham's bosom all the year,
And worship'st at the Temple's inner shrine,
God being with thee when we know it not.

Tina!!!
How have you been? I haven't seen you for awhile. So happy that you stopped by this evening.
Hope you are having a wonderful summer.
I think Jim and family will be headed to your area in August or September. Hope you get a chance to meet them.

"If thou appear untouched by solemn thought
Thy nature is not therefore less divine..." Wordsworth had it right. If we reject those among us who seem "untouched by solemn thought," then we become less human.
Part of what it means to be human, and to follow in the footsteps of God, is measured by how we treat others.

We are getting geared up for a Robinson Family party extravaganza in August :) Here tonight, yes... It's nice to be around Dose people - an Oasis in the occasionally cranky underbelly of FR ;)

A person's character or lack thereof is reflected in his treatment of his fellow man.

When Jim gets back to Fresno, I may check his schedule again. He asked if we wanted to caravan with them on one of his tours. Will check to see if it fits into our schedules.
Sure sounds like a lot of fun.

"The journeys end has great appeal, After our prayers are said." A common theme in my poems, and philosophy, is the equating of a day with a lifetime.
To any sufficient extended long-term view, we are all mayflies. That's why the journey's end is appealing, if our "account" is all prayed up.

Dover Beach
By Matthew Arnold
The sea is calm tonight.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits; -- on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.
Come to the window, sweet is the night-air!
Only, from the long line of spray
Where the sea meets the moon-blanch'd land,
Listen! you hear the grating roar
Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,
At their return, up the high strand,
Begin, and cease, and then again begin,
With tremulous cadence slow, and bring
The eternal note of sadness in.
Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the Aegean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow,
Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.
The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth's shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furl'd.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.
Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.

I read this someplace and it left an impression ....
Happiness is found along the road, not at the end of the journey.

By the Beautiful Sea
Words by Harold Atteridge, Music by Harry Carroll .. 1914
Sequenced by "Perfessor" Bill Edwards
Verse 1: Joe and Jane were always together,
Said Joe to Jane "I love Summer weather,
So let's go to that beautiful sea,
Follow along, say you're with me!"
Anything that Joe would suggest to her,
Jane would always think it was best for her.
So he'd get his Ford, holler "all aboard.
Gee! I want to be..."
Chorus: By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea,
You and I you and I, oh! How happy we'll be,
When each wave comes a rolling in,
We will duck or swim, and we'll float and fool around the water.
Over and under, and then up for air,
Pa is rich, Ma is rich, so now what do we care?
I love to be beside your side, beside the sea,
Beside the seaside, by the beautiful sea.
Verse 2: Joe was quite a sport on a Sunday,
Though he would eat at Childs on a Monday (or McDonalds on Monday)
, And Jane would lose her millionaire air,
And go to work Marcelling hair,
Every Sunday he'd leave his wife at home,
Say "It's business, honey, I've got to roam,"
Then he'd miss his train, get his Ford and Jane,
And say "Come with me.
