There wasn't anything particularly wrong with mine, there just wasn't going to be room in my mouth for them, according to the dentist. I didn't want to be awake for their removal, though, so I went to an oral surgeon who knocked me out with a shot of sodium pentathol. Didn't feel a thing, until I woke up and the novacaine started to wear off....

If I don't talk to you before then, you and Rose have a great trip, Bear!

Thanks! I'm actually a little nervous about the flight... we haven't flown anywhere since, I think, 1996. I should say, I'm not nervous about the *flight*... I'm nervous about the *check-in* at the airport before the flight.

I was awake too, during my extractions. Yuck.

Last thing I remember was saying "I can't breath" and I felt like the chair was swallowing me up!

I think it really frightened the dentist...he looked pretty concerned. I don't know how long I was out. Probably just a few seconds, I hope he'd have called EMS if it was longer.

This was prob'ly 20 years ago.

Yep, that's the way I am, too. Once I'm on the plane, I'm fine, for the most part. Try not to think too much about what could happen, but other than that...

But my personal hell would be a long trip with no actual FLIGHT time, just a lot of trying to get things to the right place, missing flights and having to figure out what to do next, lost luggage, etc.

I'd feel the same way.

That sounds like an even worse version of the recurring nightmare where I go to high school graduation and discover I forgot to take a required class so I have to come back for summer school!

I've been on that trip! My first trip to Austin was like that.

I'm fine on the plane, too... Rose is the one who gets nervous. I had to talk her down from a near panic attack one time... she wanted to get up and walk off the plane before they closed the door. That's the main reason we haven't flown anywhere for so long.

Two turkeys are currently sitting atop the hay bails I use as the backstop for my archery practice, eating the hay and some grass that's growing on it. It's not turkey season, but I'm sorely tempted. . .

Yep, I concerned about the check-in too.

And I'm worried about the take-off.

I'm also a bit concerned about terrorists crashing the plane into something hard.

I'm a bit worried about turbulence, but I'll not undo my seatbelt for nothin...so I have some control over that.

Then there's landing...I'm scared of the landing part...

Four planes I'm getting on...four.

Well, I know that these are just emotional responses, and being a good conservative woman that doesn't allow her emotions to override her common sense...

I'm flying.

I've been on that trip! My first trip to Austin was like that

When I went to Germany - one of my first long flights alone - EVERYTHING went wrong, just about. I had a flight cancelled, missed a connecting flight because of the previous flight's cancellation, lost my tickets temporarily, ended up on a flight to Germany that was FIVE HOURS later than my original flight, and couldn't get in touch with anyone at my receiving base. When I got to Germany, I finally got through to someone in my shop and found out THEY had written the date wrong, so thought I was coming in the previous day. I had to get a bus down to another base nearby, where someone I didn't know picked me up - the gal who was supposed to be sponsoring me (i.e. helping me get in and settled) was on temporary duty somewhere else.

I had been up for over 24 hours by the time I got there, and was a nervous wreck!

We come to it at last, the great battle of our time...

That's not exactly the quote I'd o' used just as Hair goes to meet the in-laws....

I was just thinking the other day about how few times there are in our lives when we get to honor another person...really go all out, dress up and act serious...very few times. Weddings are rare indeed.

You mean you're not wearing shorts? :) We can work on making it more memorable....

I should say my dress is shorter...shorter than I usually wear (my mom's hand-me-downs) that I wear to church, come down to near my ankles!

This dress is just above my knees.

Getting thrown in jail in DALLAS is not against the RULES.

I'll make sure it hits the headlines in Tacoma that I was on my way to YOUR house though! :-D

Yeah, I was looking for floral print dresses in the store and almost all of them went to the floor! I'm in luck...short and dumpy must be in style. :)

That's a good scripture...I jotted it down on an index card to keep in my purse on the flights...
