Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

There used to be a tavern in Gig Harbor called, curiously enough, "The Gig". It was a landmark for a long time, but is no more.
The current landmark that *all* of you must visit in order for your visit to be a proper visit to GH is the "Tides Tavern". We'll go there for lunch or dinner or something one of the days. Neat spot with a dock in the harbor. Good food, and of course, beer.
I think we've already covered the Tides clothing collection.

"Hmmm....so elves evolved from gnomes."
Either that or the elves are riddled with a gnome 5th column--so which of the elves are really gnomes. . .? [looks around suspiciously]

It looks like a hollowed-out wooden banana. Hmmm... that's odd. It is like a wooden banana in really so few ways...

"Noldor?"
Hmmm--which of the Kellogg's cereal characters are the Sindar, then?

I'm staying pretty loose with the actual "plan". I'm willing to facilitate whatever most folk feel like doing. My local watering hole is available, and is good if for no other reason than we can probly get lots of space all or mostly to ourselves. The place itself is not particularly special except for the wierd people there I call "friends" for lack of a closer word... :-)
Maybe the Tides for lunch would be good? Dunno... I'm not just flexible, I'm fluid.
Scott? We're doing E-9 on Thursday evening, correct? did you already have ideas for Friday?

I think the Sindar must be from the rival Keebler clan.

which of the Kellogg's cereal characters are the Sindar, then?I dunno! But if you get into the "History of Middle-Earth" series, you find out that Tolkien originally referred to the Noldorin Elves as "Gnomes". The word comes from a Greek root meaning "to know", and he used it to designate the Elves that had the highest level of knowledge.

So, we're still meeting at your local watering hole on Friday night? Actually, meeting pretty early on Friday.... Like noon, if'n ya want. We're free in the afternoon, and the earlier we meet up the better, to get down here at a reasonable hour...
