Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh...I'm reading along and laughing at your posts on that other thread.
Women shouldn't ever discuss politics? Hm.

I'm gonna stay out of it for once, though, I think.
But really...the people who say men should look outside the US for proper women are the ones that REALLY tick me off...far more than the bitter divorced women haters.

But really...the people who say men should look outside the US for proper women are the ones that REALLY tick me off... We don't do that in my family. True story:
My uncle, my cousin and my brother all married German women. I don't mean to be critical of the Germans, but all three of them wimmin were crazy. And all three marriages ended badly...

There are some souls you don't want to look too deep into, that's for sure. I do get a kick out of the import-a-bride folks, I just can't get over thinking they expect her to be as trainable and vulnerable as a pound puppy, who would love and worship anyone bringing them out of that squalor... Only sad thing about them is that in a condescending relationship like that, they'd have much better success with a Golden Retriever than an adult woman from any culture.

Speaking of Golden Retriever, Luke has now decided he wants a dog of his own, since Sam is Jr's dog.
Ain't gonna happen. Castle Stormhands is already overcrowded.

...The one that really sickens me (and I think you MUST have seen him around..) is a guy my Dad's age who married a sixteen or seventeen year old Filipino girl, and brags about it every chance he gets. Couldn't even handle an adult, I guess.

You know.... Two dogs really aren't harder than one.... The life choices are no different, in fact, it's easier sometimes, because they have each other when you are gone.

I should add though, that there were circumstances that lead to some of the lunacy. And I should also add that none of "our" three (uncle, cousin, brother) are exactly saints or easy to live with. They all had three marriages.
It was just an odd coincidence that all three women were German and crazy.
