New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
I haven't painted mine yet. Not till after today's flylady marathon.
And all the ones on my left hand are broken. I usually have good nails, but not this week! ~shrugs~ :~D
I wish I were there to help you flylady! I'm gooooood at it! Celeste says I'm brutal.
Cleaning this place too aggressively would make it disintegrate! ;~D
It's a pretty tired old place, but it'll be clean as it can be!
I can't wait to see it...it always looks peaceful.
Is Scott picking us up? Or did I remember Wneighbor saying she was getting a car?
Bear and Rose, what about your traveling? Ar you renting a car or taking the shuttle? are your arrangements all worked out as much as you're gonna ahead of time? Can all of ya send me your arrival-departure and any lodging arrangements you've already made? I am lost in details and don't remember who comes and goes when.
Hm...we have LOTS of Nutters here...prolly a good HALF of the people in the town I grew up in are either Nutters or Nutter cousins. My best friend when I was little was a Nutter.
Of course, learning the British definition of the word cracked me up...
Good morning, morning shift!
Wow...busy weekend. I kinda sorta caught up here.
Congratulations! Not much farther to go, no? Are they 10s?
Meanwhile...I've gone another solid week without a loss, and actually gained a pound this week (though I have a feeling if I stepped on the scale tomorrow it'd be gone...I think it's a fluke). I actually FEEL thinner...but no poundage loss. *sigh* I'm half thinking of returning to the stricter phase of the diet for a week or so, maybe with just the addition of fruit. On the other hand, if my clothes are fitting better, maybe I should just ignore the scale entirely for a bit.
Did get my first comment this weekend. Our church has a big celebration and procession on the feast of Corpus Christi (that was Sunday), followed by a sort of potluck with the K of C providing grilled chicken. So...people who normally go to different services all end up at the same one. A lady who hasn't seen me in a few months came up and said "Have you lost weight?", and when I said yes, she said "I thought you looked like you'd lost a LOT of weight. You're a shadow of your former self!"
Not sure how to take that, since I really haven't lost THAT much. And THAT, I suppose, is why people usually are afraid to comment, even in a positive way! ;-)
But I THINK I'm feelin' good about it.
BTW, I really am impressed with all you've done with your garden! I think I'm a couple years behind you on the garden evolution scale. Still don't have many perennials, for one, and I'd like to. And I have a lot of ground yet to clear.
Are lilies fall bulbs? I know I'm too late for this year if they aren't, but I'm starting to put together a list of what I FINALLY want to get in the ground this fall. Early. I keep putting it off until it's too late, and the ground is frozen. Happens darn early here.
Funkle funkle funkle
Thanks for the kind words about the garden. I'm still on a HUGH learning curve. It helps to have Nana around 'cause she's got close to 70 years experience working in a yard/garden. She doesn't know a lot of the names of plants but she knows "what they do" and what they need.
Two things pushed me to get to work on mine. 1) our yard was/is washing away into the neighbor's yard and 2) Nana dug up half her yard in North Carolina and brought it here.
You could probably find some daylily plants to set out that are already in bloom. That would give you a head start on next year.
I've had a fleeting thought of digging all of mine up and moving them further into the yard so I could get some ornamental grasses behind them. Still having erosion problems. But I think I can get some of the shorter varieties of grass to fill in and should be okay. If not, I'll dig 'em all up next year.
Good morning!
Yes, I am renting a car. I already have directions to Scott's house and phone numbers. :-)
I am very excited already - and I have to go to work today! How am I going to sit still - WITH NO INTERNET? I probably need a dose of Hair's peaceful place! LOL
Because my house is built into a hill and most of my land is on a slant...I worry about erosion, too. I'd LIKE to terrace it kinda, and plant things on the different levels. However, I'm afraid to remove the grass and bushes on that slope for fear the whole side of the hill will wash away. Gotta wait until I'm REALLY good and ready and have a good gameplan, I guess. Scary.
I know Bear and Rose won't be here for a while so I'll pass on what I know. They are renting a car. They come in later in the evening on Thursday and last I heard (Saturday night) they are planning to head up to Seattle their first night in order to go to the Sci-Fi Museum opening on Friday.
OT comes in on Friday morning and I am planning on picking her up at the airport and bringing her to Scott's house.
After that I think we're all just going to be mooting! And waiting! ;-D
I saw your flower you posted! It was gorgeous! You are doing a wonderful job Master Dwarf! :-)
Good morning!
Ok...Joshua is up and I need to feed him breakfast, so I'll check back in later.
He just asked about my nails...something he's never seen before. He said "Is that for your wedding?" I said "Yes, it's for the wedding!" and he said "When are you leaving?" I told him and he looked all let down that it wasn't right away! I said "What? You want to get rid of me??" and he said "No, just for five days so we can go camping!" LOL
I think he's psyching himself up for my absence.
Okay... FRMail me your departure flight, I don't know the numbers! ;~D
Yeah, I didn't really start with a gameplan. But, as I'm learning, I'm realizing that I will never be "done." That's actually a good thing because I'm enjoying this.
Do you have a county extension agent you could talk to? Or does your college have a landscape architechture class/program? There's a bunch of free resources out there. And of course you could find tons of stuff on the Net.
But you're right. Don't go pulling stuff out until you have a game plan. Even if they're ugly bushes and grasses, they're doing some good.
Why thank you ma'am.
