Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

what was the kerfluffle about???? I missed it.
I too avoid the religion thread for the exact same reason...and in some respects, I only lurk on the Catholic threads (well, I have been known to drop a line or two occaisionally) because one enthusiastic Catholic verbally attacked me for being rebellious and anti-God for not remaining in the RCC.
And I decided that if I tried to live my life half the way some of those people claim is the correct way, I'd be in the nut house.

So when do the libs start accusing Pres. Bush of causing this in order to get more votes at the election?

I've tried, really, since Lent to avoid the Religion Forum. Or at least to avoid arguing there. But this thread really pi$$e$ me off.I have managed to avoid the Religion Forum so far, so I'm avoiding the temptation to ask what that was about :) I made a decision before I joined FR not to let myself get drawn into that type of discussion because in my experience it's huge drain on energy and all it usually succeeds in doing is getting people angry. When I read something that pisses me off, I just remind myself, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me."

I sat thru a three hour meeting today. After the first two hours of listening to them talk about the "P Index" I said we have GOT to take a break.
(I'm prolly not working Thursday, depends on how long I'm in line Wednesday night)

So when do the libs start accusing Pres. Bush of causing this in order to get more votes at the election? They already have. There are threads around here posting comments from DU. I may be stupid enough to visit the FR Crusades, but there are some places I just won't go.

Okay, how 'bout a "spotted wintergreen?"
My plant:

Spotted Wintergreen

The Spotted Wintergreen is a perennial evergreen herb or shrub with a very attractive variegated leaf veination. The stems emerge from creeping rhizomes and reach a height of 10 to 25 cm. The leaves measure 2 to 7 cm in length, and 6 to 24 mm in width. The petals of the fragrant flowers are white or pinkish and nearly round. The capsules measure 6 to 8 mm in diameter.

Looks close! Are the flowers fragrant? Does it come from a rhizome?
You might try taking a leaf and flower sample to your county agriculture extension folks and see if they can identify it.
