Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Two people that I know who went through radiation got very ~tired~ by it, drained... but not as sick as with other treatments. And one was even the same place as yours, so maybe it is better, and then again, people's tolerance to it varies as much as people do.

My mom never got really sick on any of it, just tired. But she didn't do radiation. wasn't the right kind of cancer for it.

A wrongful death like that can shake anyone's faith. My mom's death shook ~my~ faith till there wasn't much left, and she didn't do it to herself. She fought it and believed. Many that die deserve life. To see someone take herself out of the lives of those people would make me angry.

There is a lot that just doesn't make any sense.

Radiation mostly made me tired, and queasy. They gave me a prescription drug for nausea. I made the mistake the first day of taking it after the treatment. And I promptly thru it up. Learned after that to take it before.

Also learned that it's similar to morning sickness nausea and it helped to keep something on your stomach.

Radiation made my neighbor anemic, whereas with my grandma, it sent her diabetes completely out of kilter (Especially since she stopped eating when she started her treatments).

She ended up having to make a choice, cancer or diabetes.

That's just it. They've not gotten to the angry part. At the memorial they put up a lot of pictures, including her with all five grandkids (all under 6). Made us d@mn angry that she left them. But they still said "she didn't have a choice." That's bull$#it. She had lots of choices and she made the wrong one.

But, their problem is also that there was no faith to be shaken. They're not atheists or agnostics, they're just "not." If that makes any sense. I don't know the whole story but the dad once was studying for the ministry. He left that and never looked back.

wow, glad you are OK! Man, what has been with the weather lately? This weekend we had to get in the tornado shelter, and then yesterday roofs are blown off. I think us at MCI were the first to know something bad was coming, since we are so far North. I sit right by a row of windows that faces North, and it looked like night outside all of a sudden. Our windows didnt blow out like Wiltel's, but we were sitting there watch them vibrate big-time. I seriously did think they were going to blow out!

There was a reporter on KRMG who while giving a report, suddenly said "uh, somebodys trash bin just went through my windshield". Sounded like he was in a warzone!

Can you believe what happened to the Wiltel building! It looked absolutely warped!

Made me take storm prep more seriously, I'm tellin' ya...we live in a tiny little house with no fraidy hole...I'm really considering doing something bout that. I think FEMA has loans you can get to put in safe room.

It was real miracle nothing shot through my dad's head or something, because he was almost completely out of the truck when it hit.

My best friend Celeste just called me from the Mingo/91st area and she's without power too.

Samwise: It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened."

"But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer."

"Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something."

Frodo: "What are we holding on to, Sam?"

Samwise: "That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for."
