Just don't hang around stationary storm clouds when another band of storm clouds is approaching.

Me too!! My dad got "peppered" with gravel and such before he got back in, but I didn't get anything but a bit of dust in my eyes.

I gotta go...Mom needs her computer.

Oh, and Thanks, Ruthy!! I read your post to my mom and she thought it was very nice.

Speaking of other things to worry about...

My Mom had her first radiation treatment yesterday. Supposed to go for 7 weeks.

My b-i-l and family are flying out west (to an unnamed really big deep place in case there are park rangers lurking) to scatter his mom's ashes. I still have issues with honoring her "wishes" considering what she did. But I'm keeping my mouth shut on that one.

My mother is going to a Harry Potter party for the new movie, tonight. Don't think she is in it for the movie this time, though. She said something about having to work tomorrow on 2 1/2 hrs of sleep not being good for elves. There is a distinct possibility that she wants to wait so she can take elf-boy to see it.

Best to your Mom, Corin. How did she feel? - any indication how hard the treatment will be on her?

As for wishes.... what else can we do?

She seems to think the radiation won't be a big deal. She'll take a bit of break when the missus is in Slovakia. Mom is going to come here and spend time with Luke. (I'll be home at night).

I think with the "wishes" it's just the matter that they still believe that his Mom "did what she had to do." And, in believing that, they haven't come to grips with the fact that she took the coward's way out.

Hope your mom takes the radiation okay. Been there with my grandma. I am prayin for your mother to pull through this with as few setbacks as possible.

BTW, you might consider taking her to a steakhouse for dinner. Steak is an awesome source for iron, which she will need alot of after her treatments so that she won't become anemic.

raw and wriggling... yum

Thanks. Good idea about the steak. She'll have her birthday while she's here.

But, and I know it's blasphemy to say this here, we like our steak well done.

I'll keep her in my prayers for a successful treatment and recovery, Corin.

And I always have you in my prayers for God to give you enough strength to handle it all. Lucky for you, He gave you broad shoulders!

They'll think of it in the only way that can bring them any sense of it they can stand to live with. Never been in shoes like those, so I can't say anyone ~should~ look at it. There is guilt and doubt and regret surrounding how we last saw anyone who dies, let alone losing them like that.

People I know who went through radiation found it to be not bad, that it didn't make them sick. I hope and pray your mom's treatment is both successful and bearable to take.

My goodness 2J. I forgot how bad the storms get up there. It's been too long!

We would all get in the closet under the stairs and wait 'em out while my dad would stand at our (wide open) front door watching the storms move over the houses across the street.

I think the thing most obvious with the suicide is that they (with the exception of wife's sister) have no concept of faith. There was nothing for them to hold on to. Just a void for the space she was no longer filling. That's the sad part.

As for the radiation. I puked my guts out. Still didn't lose any weight though.

But that was 14 years ago and I was being treated in a different *ahem* area. I think they've probably perfected the procedure since then.
