clinton devotees remain in awe of the man while they snicker about what a self-centered sleaze he is or is that just par for the course with the type that is a clinton-lover?

Back in the Lewinsky "scandal" days (1998), it was said that Clinton supporters really weren't outraged because they appreciated having a president who was on their own sleazy level. It helped them justify their own behavior. In other words, Joe Six-Pack who had an extramarital fling with a coworker or smoked dope or told big fat lies didn't feel quite so bad about it. After all, even the president does it, and he's "only human," just like me.

At the same time, the notion that there are no absolutes of right and wrong - and certainly no such thing as evil - which I think really took root in the 1960s (do your own thing), came to full fruition during the Clinton years. The lefties hated it when Reagan used terms like "evil empire," then Dubya echoed RR with his "axis of evil" comments. Oh the humanity! How dare anyone be so judgmental? So they may laugh at Clinton's girlfriends, his cheating at golf, his amoral behavior, but they sure as heck aren't criticizing it, because to do so would judge themselves.

Yes, that judgmental thing I understand (I'll never forget Martina Navratilova on Dennis Miller's HBO show positively giddy that clinton had been elected and those mean old fuddy duddies Reagan and Bush were gone), it's the *let's trumpet clinton's sleaze from the roof tops* that has me scratching my head. I understand (at least trying) that talking about how wonderful being a sleaze is, is the way to gather other sleaze to join the group, but things have changed since 9/11.

Perhaps my confusion is that the sleaze haven't recognized the country is different from those wild and crazy days of clinton. I must stop looking at dems from my perspective, i.e., if I do something stupid I make the appropriate remedies and keep my head down in the hope it's forgotten. I'm beginning to think there is no amount of stupid that would cause dems to clam up. None!

The 2002 election didn't stagger them, they blame their failures on us stoopid people who failed to get their message. A mantra dems continue to this day. Uh yeah, call me a stoopid boring goody two shoes, I'll vote for ya!
