Yahknow... you're gonna give me hell for this... but up here in the great Northwest we do in fact have some pretty gnarly good mexican food.

There's a couple of the usual chainstores that are pretty good, like Garcias of Scottsdale. But there is ONE place that provides mexican fare that BEATS hands-down ANY other place on the planet. I promise.

That place is called (and I kid you not) BILBO'S KITCHEN.

It is on Orcas Island, in a town of maybe 250 people called "Eastbay". The only way to get there is by boat, or by plane, or by waiting for several hours for a ferry. They do not take reservations, and most seats require waiting in line for some hours. It is a mexican food joint, and they serve the finest mexican food this side of Guadalajara. Probably even better than that. People fly in from all over the western hemisphere to wait in line to eat there.

It's that good.

So, are ya gonna take me over there? And let me judge for myself? :-)

Or anybody would want me too I can cook up some pretty good stuff myself for a gringo gal! Nothin' fancy of course, just what you'd get in your neighborhood kitchen in south Texas. :-)

Actually, I forgot, but Jill and Myranda were tickled because they found *great* Mexican food in the town where they lived in Germany. Seems this Mexican couple from San Antonio decided they liked Germany better than San Antone and moved there to open a restaurant.

With my friend coming tomorrow I've got a bunch of Mexican food ready. She grew up in *way* south Texas... in McAllen. She hates to cook so I homecooked comfort food for her.

Can you see killer whales from Orcas Island? That would be way cool. Here there's kind of a neat restaurant in a harbor near Lake Michigan where you can see some of the big ships going towards the St. Lawrence, but unfortunately no killer whales here of course.
