Not to sound trite. Everyone serving in all the military are deserving of such respect and honor. Just can't help cheering one of our own. It's that attitude thing - ya know! :-D

I would agree that all who serve are worthy of honor. It's just that I see the Navy Cross as a special case. They don't give those away easily or trivially. In many cases, it's like a CMOH that you didn't have to die to get.
I got trained early to look out for CMOH and Navy Crosses on the ribbon boards of people I met in uniform. Everybody (from Admirals and Generals on down) is required to salute someone wearing a CMOH, but I would salute a Navy Cross just the same. IMHO.
