Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Gold Finches are Washington's state bird, and I have never seen one! - I don't think they live here!

Do I get my own fountainpen, then? I'd like an invisible pen, please--that way I can use invisible ink, and when I make a mistake and use liquid paper no one will notice.

It's lush like that here, too--especially after the rain comes down, like it did last night. I love spring storms partly for that reason :)

Evenin' folks. We are back from a long day of travels and family ordeals.
It was a very nice and fitting tribute to the uncle. He was a Korean War Vet. Didn't have an "official" unit, but had the "county honor guard?" Don't know exactly who they were, but they did a nice job. His son is a music teacher so he had arranged bagpipes and a trumpet (for taps) at the gravesite.
We sang and did okay. A bluegrass quartet from the church sang a couple of original songs. One was about crossing the Jordan River. Don't remember the exact phrasing, but it was something like "when you're coming through the Jordan I'll wade out into the shallow waters to meet you..." Mucho tears in the house.
Afterwards wife's siblings and assorted spouses took Nana out for a combined birthday/Mother's day dinner.
It's after midnight and we've only been home about a half hour. I'm off to check my eBay stuff and then get some sleep.
See y'all tomorrow.

Well, my Dad's kitty number 6 was put down today... They tried and lost. He never regained his appetite after that stomach surgery. They were only ever to force-feed him tablespoons at a time of food. The vet really tried everything, steriods, vitamins, to kick start him again, but he was just starving to death. He was a really old cat and they did more than most would have. Sometimes, the body shuts down no matter what we try.
I did manage to take a few pics of him last weekend. We didn't have many!

Yep. He loved the kitty... But it isn't a sad thing really, that a cat lived as long as this one did.... he was in his upper teens.
