Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Kewl!
Looks like the only bird I can get over here are the stoopid pigeons...which amuses the cat.
Last fall I got one of those (cheap) mesh bags for feeding goldfinches but nary a finch showed up. Sooo....I took it to work where the finches there just love it!
Nothing at the hummingbird feeder yet.
Still need some flowers....and more potses.

Well, a bit more sun that morning would have helped; was down there friday, taking the noon-hour walk. Lot of people doing lunch there.
The gold and yellow iris have just come on today. LSA cut a couple and they're on the TV as we type this.
Been out stylin in the new ride. :-) Saw one today, nice little rig.

Overtaxed; saw some gold finches today we have finch feeder tube on the front porch. Glad the ones at work appreciate your efforts.
Ruthie; ack, there was supposed to be a question mark in my last comment. Was asking about YOUR new ride.
To: osagebowman
Yes, as a matter of fact I went out of my first outing with my new Buddy from the Best Buddies program. Her name is Anne is she is so sweet. She really opened up after a bit and we had a great time watching the shows at the Miami Seaquarium!!
Here's a pic when we met for the first time...

She really liked the Rav4 and was so thrilled when I rolled down the windows and opened the sunroof on our way down the Rickenbacker Causeway. We rode over that bridge with nothing but ocean on both sides and the sun streaming down through ther roof! It was a marvelous momemnt!

My boss put up one of those tubes....the kind where the finch has to hang upside-down to get the seed. It's pretty funny watching the sparrow finch-wannabes.

Evenin'; chuckled about your comment on the traffic noise, you'd be surprised how soon it will be just in the background. We live a block from the RR tracks in a formerly small town. Don't hardly hear the trains. :-)
Sounds like you've been keeping busy.
To: osagebowman
LOL...I know it's probably only a matter of time...but you should have heard it last night. Apparently there was some sort of piece of tin in the road...and dang near every car ran over it as they drove past. heh...so not only did I get the traffic noise, but each car would make a loud "cha-CHANK".
I'm thinking ear plugs for the time-being.
Sounds like you've been keeping busy.
Like you, I finally got the "round tuit" and did some landscaping/gardening today. Picked up a nice boxwood for the side porch, and put up some fencing out front (I have nightmares of Autumn running into the street).

Sounds like you had a really great afternoon, we've tried the sunroof a couple of times, got admit it's pretty kewl.
To: Overtaxed
Well, ours is the regular 'right side up' kind. We don't have many, seem to be passing through, must know it's a good place to visit.
To: osagebowman
I'm trying the ficus tree out on the patio....see if it lasts. It did okay in NC all summer but it was in the shade all the time. Hmmmmm......maybe I should bring it back in for the summer....Kitty likes to lounge behind it sometime.

OK folkses, I'm gonna hit the hay.
See you tomorrow!

We've got one, but it stays on the front porch in summer, full sun might be a bit much come summer. 'sides, Miss Kitty needs alternative lounging areas. :-)
To: osagebowman
Yeah....maybe I should bring it back in. I get full sun in the afternoon. I usually put all the houseplants outside in the summer, but not in full sun. I'm planning on keeping the Christmas cactus out there....that's the only way I can get them to bloom.
To: Overtaxed
hmmm. west facing patio, full sun, well, cacti are good as well as blazing star, indian paintbrush and assorted prairie flowers.
Think we'll be signing off as well.
G'nite

Night!

Nice riding picture!--the scenery forms a very sylvan setting. You could make a wall hanging out of that.

(You've heard of clothes moths, right? Well, it seems DU'ers have head moths eating their minds away.)
