Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good! Vey good!Okay, I have a newbie question: what is the etymology of "vey"? :) I was lurking for the original usage of "series" so I know that one, but I missed the genesis of "vey"--what's the story there? :)

Good Morning, though almost noon; enough rain to dampen the grass, not much wind. A few north of hear by St. Joe. The flag is waving proudly.
2J; have fun at Woolaroc, that is a pretty kewl place.
rosie; sounds like a moot is in the works, moots all over this weekend. Enjoy.
hair; beach house on memorial day weekend sounds pretty nice, grillin' fresh fisheses. hlmmmm.
g'nad; second pony bow coming along, snake skin backed hickory needs a few touches-handle wrap. The one I backed yesterday was the osage one. need to start peeling the scales off before sealing.
corin; sprayed some liquid fertilizer down, just before the rain that failed to materialize, sigh. Predicted high was 74, its now 84, weather weenies.

morning, well, someone posted 'vey' instead of 'very'; it only takes a single misspelling on some threads to have it join the freeper hall of fame - words to live by, so to speak. Luckily for us, spell checker isn't a big deal, we seem to flow right past most of 'em.

Hey! You and your wife and son are in my prayers! You know that you're with a bunch of supporters for what you're doin' when you come to the Hobbit Hole! Check in anytime. We'll try to keep you company when we're here.
It was very cool to watch ROTK again huh? Wish I could send you a few of the degrees we have here in Texas. I don't mind 'em but it's warm enough that I can at least spare a few now!

Pinging silly people known to have Cartoon Network and a history of willingness to subject themselves to virtual viewing torment--this means you :)
