Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I wish I wasn't so durned responsible sometimes.I'm a bad girl. It's the end of the month. I don't get paid till the first, but I always remember that I got lots and lots of free overdraft protection. I think it's gonna get used tonight! :-)

But on the other hand I'm sure there are ways to pick people up at airports/trainstations/spaceports if we plan a little.Okay, so if you want let me borrow your car, then.....
..... can I at last drive?
After all, I already promised Ruthy I'd let her drive the rental so she don't get scared with me drivin'. :-)

It's bare bones cable service - not digital cable. As long as I get Fox News, I'm happy! *grin*

Sorry to hear about the unreliable students. I can't stand when folks do that!I can't blame 'em all that much Ruthy. The date has been changed on 'em twice already. The advertising people kept postponing this so I'm sure they were gettin' tired of that too!
So, why don't you fly over here and watch this movie I'm fixin' to get tonight?

My savings account is toasted over the last year too. Fortunately my credit union thinks highly of me... for some reason they always want the money back though. Guess they don't think as highly of me as they should huh?

The scene when Faramir is charging back to Osgiliath is one of the most beautifully filmed and edited pieces. The charge, the cutback to Denethor eating... Pippin singing that song. It's great art.
It is almost as perfect as the montage of images as the army approaches at Helm's Deep with the orcs, the sharpening of weapons and the arming of the children. Great art again.
How can a man who understands the subtle art of those scenes hack into the middle of the scene with Eowyn and the Witch King and give her a line like "I am no man"?
~shakes head~
Men are capable of great things... but they might also fart right in the middle of dinner.

Yep, that boy just about tripped over the imaginary threshhold...
And yep, that charge/song/lunch bit and the Helm's Deep sequences are great...
But contrarily, I really liked the "I am no Man" scene too...

...and I'd really like to hear a blacksmith comment on the reforging of Anduril. I think the comment might be "You gotta be Fargin' kiddin'!"

He shouldn't have cut into the middle of it to see Aragorn and the green army.
And "I am no man" is half as good as "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomunds daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him."

I know sis. I'm in the same situation. I won't have to work but one week this summer... and yet I don't have the extra cash to even buy gas and travel around home!
Didja see that Corin compared us to Thelma and Louise? Blech!

If I ever meet Philipa Boyen, I would congratulate her of course, this was a fine bit of writing, this screenplay.
But I would box her ears for two lines in the work.
"I am no man"
and
"If you want him, come and claim him"
After penance for those, I can admire her 100%...
~chuckles~
