Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

That's ok! I thought you might find the banquet rather boring anyways...it's only exciting to a bunch of homeschoolers! Wife attended the Richmond Homeschoolers graduation on Saturday. Michael Farris spoke. She came back even more convinced to homeschool Luke.
She's becoming one of them Stepford Homeschool Mothers...;-)

Heh! Having trouble with too many moots? What a problem to have!
My younger siblings are tryin' to talk me into doing a road trip this summer, visiting some Hobbit Holers along the way. They say it'd be good for me, since I need to get better at driving in traffic...and we could camp along the way so it wouldn't be that expensive. I dunno...

Oh yeah, I'm sure you'd much rather see a bunch of homeschoolers showing off than Hair getting married...
Heck, if I could choose, I'd choose seeing hair getting married!

Well anything where free food is involved can't be that bad. :)

At least we can live vicariously.
But you WILL be at Entmoot 2. I can't wait! Wish it wasn't so far off...

Yeah...this job interferes too much with my personal life. :)
If you want to camp out in an unfurnished KC apartment, come on over! At least I have a coffee grinder.

I went to hear Steve Largent speak at a homeschool graduation a few years back...just to hear him speak, didn't know anyone graduating...
It was so moving that cried all the way through it and I didn't even know the kids! LOL They had slides of the kids growing up and the kids talking over the slides, you know? A Powerpoint slide show. Then each parent came up on stage and gave the child the their diplomas...it was very emotional.

Yeah, that's what the wife said. I don't think they did slides. But each student had their parents present their diploma. Michael Farris helped hand them out.
You can do that when there's only 57 graduates.

We have plenty of family in the midwest, so I imagine we'd be heading that direction. Probably no further than that, in any case, since we wouldn't have all THAT much time to work with.
