Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hi Ho... Think I'll be giving it a miss. If I ever feel the need to see it again, I have the DVD!

We did watch FOTR on the Encore movie channel tonight, though. And I'll be picking up the ROTK DVD on Tuesday.

Did Encore show the regular or extended version of FotR?

The regular edition tonight, although they have shown the EE at times as well.

I still haven't seen the extended edition! [Hangs head in shame.]

You know, I'm one of those odd people, I've decided I like the regular edition better. I think it flows a little better, editing-wise. Although, of the two EEs we've seen, I like FOTR:EE better than I do TTT:EE.

What's noteworthy in the EE that's not in the regular versions?

In FOTR, primarily the gift-giving scene in Lothlorien. Some other minor scenes were added, and some scenes were differently edited as well. Off the top of my head that's all I can remember.

No Bombadil?

Nope, no Bombadil. Just like the Scouring of the Shire, the scenes were never filmed, so they'll never appear in any version of PJ's films.

That's a shame. I would've really loved to have seen those scenes. I guess there's room for Bakshi to do another remake. . .

Well, I'm gonna log off here--have a good one! G'night, all!

I won an award at the FIU student art show tonight, for a monotype print,

Congratulations! Can you scan it or take a picture of it somehow so we can see?

Good morning, Hair.

Is my reckoning correct that it is only 05:15 where you are? What day are you guys getting married, anyway?

I'll take a digi when I get it back from the show. Maybe I can figure out how to do that properly.
