New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Have a good night, Corin!
You know Ruthy, I have 2 or 3 guys who are friends and only friends that have always been around to accompany me to places where I really felt uncomfortable or lonely going alone. It's not the same as having a date. And it sure doesn't make up for the lonliness we sometimes just feel as a part of single-mom life, but it does help.
Maybe if you start thinking about guys that you know who might fill that bill it would at least help. You know, it ain't bad just to have friends you like to hang out with. Like Ramius. If he were near we'd talk him into going to your parade of weasels so you didn't have to go alone! :-)
You wouldn't mind would you Ramius? It would feel just like *your* work, only not *your* weasels! :-)
Parade of weasels? Weasels, hell... I'm up to my armpits in them every day.
I can do weasels standin' on my head. Piece o' pie.
:-)
You wouldn't mind exchanging your weasels for Ruthy's weasels for one little ol' office picnic would ya? So she wouldn't be lonesome!
Poor Ramius!! He's just had the week from hell and we're talking about tormenting him with company picnics full of weasels! :-)
I have very few local friends, even fewer who are male and none who wouldn't read more into it than just an outing together and/or not know how to behave themselves in a professional atmosphere. *sigh*
I'm just venting, sis. Thanks for the ear.
:-)Thought so. And it wouldn't be so bad goin' and havin' Ruthy for company would it? She needs to not go by herself! :-)
Same thing. :-)
One man's worm is another man's weasel. They're all parasites of one kind or another. :-)
Well, if I were close I'd go with you. But you would *NOT* be allowed to refer to me as "date!" LOL
Ooo... no... not even you! nope!
You could tell 'em I'm your sister. :-)
But, I'd go with ya. And behave correctly in a professional atmosphere while we spoke in whispers and you told me all the trash about everyone there! LOL
There's some juicy gossip in my building, that's for sure!
My sister Kelly knows more of it than I do because she's been there longer, but I can tell you that the sales department is saturated with gay men...I'm talking, straight-out swishy types!! YIKES!
They're bringing their "domestic partners" to the picnic, so I'm absolutely dreading having to explain that to Becky. I'm hoping I can just steer clear of them.
Yahknow... I haven't been to a company party in several years. They're excruciating.
Can't stand them.
If I really liked these people I would hang out with them, but I don't, so I don't.
Oh dear! I don't envy you that one! Can't remember how that topic got introduced to either of my kids to tell you the truth. Prolly from TV.
Is your sister going to this shindig? Are you going with her?
That's exactly how I feel about it, but unfortunately, I've already missed the last party the company had and my absence was noticed. I actually wanted to go to that one, but my mom wouldn't watch the girls for me.
And since this is the FIRST annual family picnic, they are keeping tabs on who is RSVPing and who will be there, etc. And since I am the newest employee in my department, I will be seen as a "non-team-player" if I skip out on these events from the get-go.
So, I've got to go, like it or not. At least this one.
So whatcha got goin' at the house this weekend? More painting? Or other fixin' up?
Who needs a sudden illness? I'd go with the usual:
"Do I *look* like I wanna go to a brown nosing schmoozfest? If I *liked* you people I woulda' invited you over to my house... but I haven't, have I?"
Oh yes, Kelly will be there with my nephew, Daniel but she works in a different department so chances are we'll be grouped accordingly.
Besides, I think she has a date. :-(
LOL!!!
Sheesh! And I bet they won't even be serving alcohol either.
