Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm not much of a gamer, either, which is why I'm equally clueless :) I want to learn more about gaming, though--my brother has some ideas for some video games he wants me to help him develop. I've got a couple ideas of my own. One is a martial arts video game, which I'm just now thinking might be interesting to combine with a historical setting a la Kenshin--hmmm. . .

Eeek! I kinda hoped I would have lost weight, got a tan and acquired wealth by then... I guess I'll be the pudgy pasty complected humble type bride.

There was a crisis with Zak or Zeke (I don't know which is which) last night about 11pm and Dad had to run over there to help Dona cope. I'll save the thread from the imagery but it was all about bloody masses of gunk. Nothing to be done about it last night, and Scott came over this morning to help take Z into the vet and he was put down.
Then as the morning went on, something was very wrong with Z (the other one). Could not get up on his feet. Yelped in pain at any help. Hard to say what was happening but last I heard they (Scott) took him into the vet to see what what was wrong. I don't know what the disposition was yet, but the discussion was that nobody felt there was much hope for him either.
As connected as those two dogs were to each other, it's really sad that the one was spiraling down immediately on the loss of the other. It's almost like they were just one dog. Maybe so.
Dona's not taking it well.

Now hush!
You'll be so lovely, we'll have to watch the ocean carefully. She may be so envious, she'll try to sweep you away! *smile*

Would have been Zeke throwing up blood.
I wouldn't be surprised that Zak needed to be put down when Zeke did... Or at least that she would do that to save herself from grieving again in a few weeks. He won't eat either, they are both thin and failing... and I am sure he has arthritis in his back from the stilted way he moves. But sharp pain is an odd thing to happen right then.

S'OK. I didn't actually know these guys all that well. Just acquainted. I'm more concerned for Dona, though with some days she will get past this too. She's just had a tough set of weeks with both the kitty and the dogs becoming unfixable.
These dogs have been on a long downhill slide for many many months now. It's not really a surprise to anyone. They've had good years.

out... freakin'... standing!!! Roger that... I can't keep from seeing scenes from Braveheart with these whacked-out highlanders charging...
I can only imagine the faces of those poor islamobastards... who've never *seen anything like* a bayonet charge by a bunch of crazed Scots... they'd have eyes the size of tennis balls. "Holy mother of..." ooops. Too late.
hehehe... I've been chuckling about this all day.
