Oh, yeah, I was going to tell you, AMC is premiering a special version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory tonight which includes behind-the-scenes commentary and stuff. I've seen them do this with other movies, it should be pretty interesting!

Yeah, if my sister could work an 8-hour day for $100/ hr she'd be sittin' pretty.

Yep, that's the downside...can't do it all day every day unless you're really good at marketing and live in a big area, and even then you'd be lucky to play a gig a day. And for every hour of performance...you put in a LOT more behind the scenes. Not really all that efficient. But it's still nice to get paid!

We're only averaging a gig every couple months, for the most part. And most are MUCH lower pay...especially as usually there are more of us. The most I'd ever made before was forty dollars as my share of a longer gig we played at a summer festival.

That explains it--that did sound like pretty good pay for one gig! I'd guess you'd have to play pretty often to make decent money at that. It was nice you got to make some money this time around, at least! :)

Which reminds me, I still have to fix my guitar. The screw holding one of the tuning keys on came loose and got lost, so right now one string doesn't work--sigh. . .

Been moving hay bales this afternoon to re-set up my archery range. I had to take it down for the winter because I needed the hay bales to cover up the septic tank so it didn't freeze over. Now that the weather's (relatively) warmer I finally got around to moving them back, and they were all waterlogged and much heavier than when I moved them originally. There were about a dozen, so I got a good workout from it--tempted to count that as my aerobic exercise for the day, LOL!

Sometimes I'm very happy I don't have cable...no chance of stumbling across that atrocity while channel surfing.

Made hot wings yesterday...they were really, really good! I didn't have OT's recipe handy, so I just used the one on my bottle of Frank's Red Hot. It calls for 1/2 cup Red Hot and 1/3 cup melted butter, and you just dip the wings after they cook. I hadn't made them before, and was amazed how good they turned out. Yum! Still have a few leftover to bring for lunch tomorrow.

I might mix in part Tabasco next time. Frank's is flavorful, but not very spicy. I don't like 'em TOO hot, but a little wouldn't hurt.

Sorry to hear you don't have cable--you want me to tape it for you, then? :)

Those wings sound good!!!

The movie is up to Laketown--the Lakemen are singing about the Mountain King's Return :) About to meet Smaug the Giant Kitty-Kat. . .

Smaug the Giant Kitty-Kat killed the thread.

I think he looks more like a demented fox, myself.

Yes, the apples of which I spoke were very small also.

Good evening everyone.

OK, now I know who Frank Cho is...I'm not that much of a comic art fan, but I'm definitely a fan of that person.

He is a real master, IMO.

Meant to post Darksheare to the previous item.

Ugh, I survived. The party was from 3-6. We got the last of them out less than an hour ago.

It was good! Just more people than I like dealing with. So tired. I don't know if it's mercenary to be happy to have gotten quite a few little checks, but hey, it's going to the Colorado fund.

Being happy to get money when you need it isn't mercenary! Glad it went well. Yeah...dealing with crowds just sucks the life out of ya, doesn't it?

It sure does. Going to watch one episode of Kenshin, then... one nice present I got was a book of reflections on Psalms by CS Lewis, so I'll read some of that, then bed.

I'm taking wings for lunch tomorrow.

That's one CS Lewis book I haven't read. I bet my Dad has it...I end up using his collection as my own personal library at times, I'm afraid. He has some awesome books...religious and political and just plain literature.

Hey, I never thought of that! Let me try that:

Smaug the magic dragon

lived on Mount Lonely

drawn like a demented fox

by the deranged Ralph Bakshi. . .

Hmmm. . .has potential--for what I don't know. . . :-)
