Glad to hear your music hall gig went well--sounds like a really nice place! :)

I didn't work out last night at all - did some errands with my mom and some of the sibs - but tonight I'm going to do another walk. Have to rent "Last Samurai" again, and then find something for next week's walks...If you don't do your walk tonight, you're going to be required to report back at 15-minute intervals on your progress--see, you shouldn't have told us your Dad's methods, now we know what works on ya! :)
So what are you thinking of getting for next week's walks?

And just to make Jen feel better...when I was first in the military, one of the guys I worked with was a big Led Zeppelin fan. The subject came out one day, and I said "Who's he?"
Everyone in the room went completely quiet and then busted out laughing. Took awhile before I could get anyone to explain.

That worked when I was 12. Not any more.
Rosie, I'm so glad I'm not the only musically clueless person in the world. But that stuff doesn't appeal to me anyway, so what do I care?

Have you heard any Zeppelin?

I'm not musically clueless...just know different music. And I know very little from the eighties in particular.
But most of my favorite musicians and groups are ones that are not well known by the general public, too.

I believe I have...but I can't remember any songs at the moment.
A lot of that kinda music I've HEARD...but don't really know who I'm hearing, if that makes sense. Like I listen to a few radio stations that play a wide variety of music, but I don't necessarily know all the performers, even when I know the songs.

I getcha. Once you've heard Zeppelin though, you can pick out which songs are theirs quite easily. Same goes for Pink Floyd. You just can't mix them up with anyone else.

The closest thing we got here is "The Man in the Iron Mask"... with DiCapprio... I ain't goin' there...I was going to avoid that for the same reason--I can't stand DiCaprio--but I was forced to watch it when a family member rented it, and it was actually better than I expected and DiCaprio was actually tolerable. I agree with ExGeeEye, though: the Chamberlain one is way better. Douglas Fairbanks' version is still the best, though.

You want to know a secret?I was a lazy and unmotivated student when I was, oh, 12. At least, I wanted to be.
I went through that when I was the same age :) Part of it was wanting to fit in more with the other kids, and part of it was boredom because they kept reviewing stuff I knew already. But it didn't work, because even when I slacked I kept getting straight A's; so my career as an aspiring delinquent was short-lived.

**Have you heard any Zeppelin?**
Rosie, listen to, and read the lyrics for, "The Battle of Evermore" by Zeppelin.
Many parallels between that song and the Battle of Pellennor Fields.
In fact, there's a handful of Zeppelin songs that reference Tolkien.

I believe the credit for that goes to Throbbing Gristle. . .

LOL
In 1991, Roger Waters, formerly of Pink Floyd fame, put on a massive "The Wall" show in Berlin.
Among his special guests were Bryan Adams, Cyndi Lauper, Thomas Dolby, Joni Mitchell, The Band, Van Morrison, and Scorpions.
Classic, classic show.

I also saw The Mommas and the Poppas....LOL! I saw what was left of them around 1991, I believe :) A couple of them were touring with the Tokens and the Monkees during the brief Monkees revival.

From personal experience, there is value in seeing accurately-adapted films before reading the books when possible. I owe my preadolescent interest in reading The Hobbit to the execrable cartoon thereof.Same here, which is why I don't mind the cartoon.
