Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I like the fact that he calls her "Villiers."
I liked her pretty well myself.
One thing, I wish that somewhere in the movie, someone would have said "I give you joy."

It hasn't gone over too well with the birkenstock and granola crowd in my office either.
It is cool... though, and I've only had to bring it up ONCE that the company does in fact have NO policy regarding bringing firearms into the premises.
[sigh] Today I had to help this [whiney liberal] guy with a problem with his computer... realplayer was making his machine barf (no surprise). What does he use realplayer for? He listens to Air America on it.
I think it's time for some adjustments to the firewall. One thing I don't need is people friggin' STREAMING fargin' AUDIO on my
@#$@ing network. That it is airhead america is merely salt in the wound.

"In the movie Rapid Fire, Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee's son) is sitting in art class drawing a model. The instructor walks up and sees that Brandon has drawn a picture of a dragon behind the model. "Just draw what you see," the art teacher reprimands him. Brandon shrugs: "That's what I see." :) The figure drawing class I was in last May, there was one kid (weirdo) that, no matter who the model was, when you looked at his drawing pad, what he was drawing the whole time were little pictures of Donald Duck, Daffy Duck, Woody Woodpecker, Mickey Mouse, etc., and to hell with the model, I guess.
Never could figure out what was going on...someone must have told him he needed to learn figurative drawing to be a cartoonist.

*scratch* *scratch* *scratch*
Now, was that the *worst* thing you had to deal with today? Dunno if you've noticed, but there are other things you mention that seem a bit worse. hehehe...
So, you got your drink to relax all that stress out of those tensed up feelin's? ~still scratchin' your back~

I got way behind on the stats when I started working back in March, and was never able to get caught up. My last stats post was three Hobbit Holes ago.Heh.... I never claimed to be quick on the uptake!
It's a neat thing... when you have time... definately a luxury.

It wasn't the worst problem today, just the most annoying. This place is hip-deep in PhD's that are perhaps the most obnoxious arrogant elitist granolaheads in the world. This office is mostly in the "environmental" end of the sciences. Supergranola.
I get no small amount of pleasure noting that what they do for a living is to pander to industry and help large corporations avoid all kinds of EPA regulations. Sweet.

Okay, Sam ... I'm halfway through book 4,
The Mauritius Command, and I don't get the attraction Stephen feels for Villiers.
I mean, Jack and Diana make sense ... he gets all ahoo over a woman, to the point of ruin, then rolls back upright. I did think Sophie was a little bland for him, but she'll do.
But what is it with Stephen and that greedy woman??? Jack and Stephen keep talking about her bravery, and her courage --- but she contributed to the death of a good man in India and keeps kicking Stephen around like a football.
Do the men find her so attractive because she's heedless?

That is definitely a bonus that I hadn't thought about you having at the office. Must be nice to chuckle at 'em as you go through the day! They prolly like what they're doing less than you like your job!!! Nice bonus. :-)
Other than the one guy was your day kinda sorta okay?
*scratch* *scratch* *scratch* .... but after your comment last night there ain't no scratchin' on the left!!!

Goats will eat anything, and I have considered it! - I don't have goat-proof fencing all the way around (yet) or I would!

I would probably have had pizza...That's okay for you -- who live in a town where you can get good Mexican food! But, here, I took advantage of the celebration at the park with my friend Celia and gorged on the good stuff they had down there!

LOL! Sounds like me in art class :) If the assignment remotely allowed it, I would draw pictures either of superheroes or The Hobbit, which drove my art teacher nuts. "Why don't you try drawing something else?" he would ask me periodically :)

Oh, yeah, today was basically fine. A couple of events relating to the sasser worm again, but nothing of any consequence, due to the usual excellence of the awesome people that work for me.
