Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I think that makes you a pretty powerful wizard sweetie. Sad that you had to deal with the balrog on your Sunday!
Today however we were able to more or less conclusively show that it was all his own dumb self that was the problem from the beginning. [sip].
This always makes for a lovely day IMO. *smug smile*

There have been easily five or six times when this Balrog, and CTOB, has brought up my name at board meetings or other occasions with the CEO and tried to get me fired.
This week will be another one. He's already arranged a meeting with the CEO for later this week on the subject "The future of the MIS group".
[sigh] He ought to at least get my name right. This is the IT department, not the MIS department.

I think that makes you a pretty powerful wizard sweetie. Sad that you had to deal with the balrog on your Sunday! The only thing that makes me smile about him is that I can ruin his life whenever I choose to do so. That I keep not doing it just gives me that smug inner peace, nomatter what sort of raving p^!ck he makes of himself.
Sundays? Those are his favorites...

Isn't that illegal of him? No, not illegal. The thing that saves me (and not just me, just about everyone else at the director level around the company) is that *everybody*, and I do mean everybody in the company from the CEO, COO, CFO and all of the BOD know just precisely how big of an inflamed raging buttsore this guy is.
Nobody takes him seriously when he's on the rampage anymore. He almost always turns out to be wholly wrong about whatever he's on the rampage about, and it usually turns out to be something that was his fault in the first place.
It's kinda' funny, if you have the perspective to step back and see it from a distance.

He's the smartest man in the world. Just ask him. Wouldn't ask him. If you wanna know how smart someone is, you ask someone who works *with* them. And not the guy he has lunch with every day either.

Sounds like some folks I've worked with, LOL! Hmmm--you could try dumping some lembas crumbs on them while they're sleeping and then accusing them of eating them all. . .

The mailbox, uh-o; well, the miscreant's head on a pike next to the NEW mailbox should be effective. I'm free next weekend. Roadtrip?
To: Wneighbor
Well, as it would happen, this Balrog is in fact pretty smart. But having a high IQ is of less real-world use if you cannot successfully communicate with your colleagues, apart from deriding them for how stupid they must be to not understand what you are trying to express to their lowlife, pathetic selves.
How this guy brings in clients is a mystery to everyone. But... he does.
He's actually on record as the one single consultant with the highest billing rate in the nation. Just ask him. He'd be happy to tell you all about it. He's the most expensive expert that money can buy.

That does sound good. I wonder how it'd be with fresh peaches!
We still don't have very good fruit here, though we DID get some CA strawberries recently that are wonderful. Maybe it's just because I haven't been eating sugar, but I'm amazed at how sweet these were! Mmmm...
