SMARTY JONES is the horse of the Century. He is in a class far above all competitors. If he stays healthy for the Belmont, we will have a Triple Crown Winner. What a glorious beauty to watch.
He's something special.
Spring clean up is finally accomplished. I went outside at 10:00 this morning and am just now coming inside.
We hauled a pickup load of gunk to the ditch. Creeping Charlie is the pits. My fingernails may be eternally green from picking that little sucker out of the soil.
I drained the HT and gave it a good scrubbing and disinfecting and refilled it today, too. I just checked the temp and it is 79. Not likely it will be hot enough to use tonite.
First rose bloomed this week. Martin Foribaster (or something like that) a pale pink Canadian. 2 more have big fat buds which will surely open tomorrow. John Cabot (another Canadian) and Hawkeye Belle (a Buck). The peonies have great big fat buds and the bearded iris are in the height of their glory. I fear they will be nothing but stems by Memorial Day. I guess my deceased family members will be getting purchased flowers on their graves instead of things from my own garden.
I'm off to the shower.
