Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Well I have them doing both. Since I paid for it I figured I might as well use it up. Seems to me that some kind of baby oil or something would work just as well and be cheaper. Can they get their head to their front feet?
Are you worried about them licking it? Yes, they can reach their feet. They probably wouldn't lick it though.
We used baby oil on muzzles, around eyes and ears showing, to make their skin and faces dark and pretty.
My Ford 1100 has turf tires on it also. You really have to be careful, not to get it stuck, which I did last night, on a low spot in the pasture. They are calling for 3, up to 7 inches of rain here. I thought I better get it mowed one more time, before winter. Effects from Hurricane Frances.
Yeah, I didn't know if they could get to it. Why couldn't a little cooking oil do the same thing?
Yeah, my cupcake has a name:')
I know this is really off topic, but my mom is trying to sell her mini loaf pan. It's stoneware from pampered chef. She says in the book its $35. She wants to sell it for $30, that includes shipping. I don't think she ever used it. If anyone is interested please freepmail me.
Heather and I had a good ride. I rode Rusty. Heather told me something interesting. Remember, the stable he is at is where she takes lessons. She said Kim, the lady that is riding Harley, let her ride him Sat. She also heard a few of the other girls talking about "maybe" riding him.....hhhhhmmmmmm. I'm not real happy about that. I didn't want a bunch of different people, especially young ones, climbing on him. I was under the impression Kim was the only one that would be riding him. I think I will be there tomorrow when the kid whose parents want to buy him will be there for her lesson. Get this thing settled.
Tami didn't make it back with Trash last night. Her truck broke down. I'm going to go get him here in a minute. She just lives a mile or two from me.
Tonight we have to go to a baseball game.
~sigh~ never a quiet evening.
Becky
In my profession it's always a concern and maybe really not an issue here but I would have questions about who is responsible for liability and if they even have their parents permission to ride Harley. The trainer might be being selective but if some do ride him then they will all want to .
Sorry. With work and horses I don't have time to cook much. I still have new stuff that people have given me in boxes:') She might try E-bay.
All the best!
Ok, there is a set of slip clutch plates mounted in the power drive-line of some mowers. My 7ft mower has a slip clutch on it. But the mower I posted a picture of only has a shear bolt that breaks instead of slipping to prevent damage to the gears of the mower.
Did the mower guy get through today?
He did. Now the place is a mess and we need to get it cleaned up! I am really wanting to rent a chipper to chop up what's left, but we'll see, either that, or lots of bonfires to get it looking presentable again!
I am glad we cleared that, it just looks a little rough right now.
"My Ford 1100 has turf tires on it also."
It isn't any fun trying to get a tractor unstuck. I have stuck one so bad that it took a bull dozer to pull it out. It had sank in so far that the rear axles were touching the ground/mud. Much of my pasture is bottom land and it is not practical to use turf tires on my tractors.
Tomorrow, I will start mowing a couple of hay fields. That is a welcome change as this will be the first time in a couple of years to mow hay. There is a local guy that has been cutting and baling my hay on shares. But it has rained so much this summer that he is behind. There are three fields that have to be cut tomorrow and I hope to cut two of them myself. Anyway, I plan on taking my camera along and post some pictures, maybe. : )
"lots of bonfires to get it looking presentable again!"
Do you two have marshmallows? : )
We love cut hay pictures!
Marshmallows every night for the next several months? ;~D
You do? Well, why didn't you say so sooner?
Be right back.
I think there are six pictures on there. Don't be checking out the pictures of the Babe I have posted there too. : )
