Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Ivan may have a Texas calling card and anything we get we send it East, usually NEast.
lol
Actually, he wanted a babysitter that night :')
Can't say that I blame him, I still like babysitters too. Sigh!
Where is everybody at tonight? :')
Hello!!!
What's the difference between a rainy day and a rainy barn day?
I ride horses in the rain. But just don't do it when there is lightening.
OK so a rainy barn day is when there is lightening? I wouldn't ride in that by choice either.
at a farm here there was a guy who was letting the horses out into their paddock after the storm was over (so they thought) and a lightening strike killed him and the horse. The owner saw it happen and took her a very long time to get over it, if she ever did.
I got caught in a sudden storm right after I first got my horse. No place to go. The main gate open so we just had to go back .
Just back fromt the barrel race. The girls both fell between 2 divisions,no money, but good runs.
Jenny ran poles too. Rocky did/looked so good, there were a couple of men sitting behind me that were cheering for him too. I could hear them saying "I like that horse":) I left before they announced the winners of poles. But will find out when she brings him home.
AAM, I've done something called Hunter Pace once. Is it where you follow a course and the person who comes in closest to the time set for the course wins??? The one I did they had jumps set up along the way, but you were allowed to go around them if you didn't want to jump.

You weren't the only one to note the time of day, yet we didn't say anything out loud.
Well, he came and made a lot of progress... not as much as I hoped, because he brought a standard brush hog, not the bigger machine mentioned in conversation.... Harumph. Oh well.... It's OK for him to not chew up all the trees, because it has a nice shady closed in feel now. He opened up a lot of ground but he didn't 'finish'. He ran out of daylight. There is still more he can do tomorrow. Considerable time today was spent head-scratching about a burned out clutch, so hopefully, the price for finishing tomorrow will still be what we agreed to, which I am not sure I even recall. We'll see. ;~D
Regardless, he did what would have been a lot of work for us :~D
Before shot (from this spring)... note the group of small alders center-right there for reference, and the brush beyond:
These trees in the foreground are those small alders.
This is the other side of the same area before:
Looking good:), I'm glad he got there. Will you be there tomorow to watch him finish?
Becky
I think so, because he's not coming 'first thing'. I'll get home by about 1:00, which is probably about 'first thing' for him. ;~D
