Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
How far North do you mean? Like in across the border, North?
Good Morning:)
6000.....are we going to have to start a new thread, like the HH does?
Becky
Mornin. Well time to get back to work:'(
I think when the threads hit 5000 then it is hard of the Ad Min's. to remove an "abusive" post. Threads can go to a little over 65,000, before the system shuts them down, but posts can't be taken out if something's wrong with them.
Becky
Good morning! - Yeah - we probably should start a new thread! They don't like them getting over 5,000 anymore.
I took today off, so I don't have to go back to work yet. Have some other things I want to do. We still haven't merged our bank accounts yet, and I haven't even officially changed my name. Lots of loose ends of our old life to clean up! Not to mention perhaps being graced by the lawn mower man.
I'm trying to get hold of the vet! I remembered. But they're not answering thier phone, or they're out of town:(. I'll try a few more times.
He's a funny vet. Older. Just him and his wife, and if they decide to go on a vacation they go. So they can be hard to get hold of. My main purpose is Susie needs an allergy shot. Poor thing's tummy is all raw from scratching. She's miserable. But that will help me to remember to get hold of the vet. I want her shot, Grizzly neutered, and Belle vet checked.
Becky
Don't shoot Susie:')
Suzi and Grizzly may have opposing prayers on whether you get ahold of the vet!
My vet is just a sole operator too, and his wife. I've never had them up and leave but I imagine they will someday. I do have a good second choice.
Do you have to go get Belle then and bring her back or will he see here where she is?
LOL.
Sometimes I wonder if she wouldn't be more happy if I did. Poor thing. I was told as she got older she would probably outgrow some of this, but it's getting worse. I really think it's wet grass that makes her so itchy.
Becky
I have a second choice now with the horses. But she doesn't do small animals. And besides the vet I'm trying to hold of is very very resonable. He probably won't even charge for Belle's vet check. And Susies shot is only $5.00. Not sure what Grizzly will be, never had one neuterd, always have had females.
Becky
I will go get Belle, take her to the vet, then drop her back off at the pasture, that's where the kids live. It's on the way to the vet.
Becky
I'm really hoping she is in foal. Don't know why I so excited about it this time. I'm getting it all planned out if she is.
Bring her home in Feb. to get her off fescue, and so I can get her use to me again. I want to get alot closer this time when she delivers. Too take pictures:)
Last time she hollowed out a spot in the middle of her stall and that's where she had it. I can turn lights on that are not real bright. I'm hoping I can get her to let me sit at her head. I think she would have last time, but I was afraid it would bother her. But as soon as Dot was born and I got by her, it never seemed to bother her. She actually would cut in between me and Dot just to be petted. I thought at first it was to keep me from messing with the baby, but if I was petting her and someone else messing with the baby she didn't care. SHE wanted attention.
Anyway, they're still not answering, but Tues. is surgery day, and you have to catch them between. If I can't catch them tomorrow, I'll know they're out of town and it will be next week before I can get them:(
Becky
Here's another shot of the baby "Cadence" I scanned yesterday when I scanned the other old one of me ponying her.
She was supposed to be a paint also, not a white hair on her. No spots, no socks, no white strip or snip on her face. ;~D. Nice horse, wish I had her now for ecurbh. I rode her at four and she'd be about 10 now.
They are cute. Just so darn flighty and I would expect a lot of work. :')
When they only weigh 100 pounds, we can deal with flighty and still smile through the ordeal :~D
The she horse getting shoed today. I wonder how she will do with those back legs. Her hoofs in bad shape. I probably just could have went with a trim but shes going to need them so I might as well get her started.
