Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Yea, that used to be how it was. I don't know what happened. I know for some vows don't mean anything anymore, so it's ok to break them. It's very sad to me. I think we live in a "please me" age and it's so easy to get a divorce......

They let the dog jump up on my door once. He stuck his head thru the window and I just automatically went to pet him. The guy went ballistic. If he might bite me then he shouldn't have let him stick his head in. I think he just didn't want me petting his dog.

Hope the dog did not scratch your door. : ) Haven't seen any of the "Let's see what we can find" traffic checks around here. Or at least not been through one. I generally stick to the back roads and avoid the main highways.

Yes, this afternoon at a Tee intersection of a well traveled rural highway. This one was manned by the County Sheriff's Deputies and the first time I had seen this. Usually it is the State Highway Patrol that mans the traffic check points. I was checked for seatbelt, drivers license, Auto insurance and vehicle tag. I guess there was no point in him checking me for alcohol or drugs, waste of his time anyway. : )

To my farm, it is out in a rural part of the county. I have to drive out, every day. Winter months are worse and hot summer weather isn't much better. : )

Hahaha. The staties here are really nasty buggers. They don't do checkpoints, but just pull people over as random groups, say five at a time and do a check. Happened to my stepdad in RI. They tore everything out of his work van, then left it on the side of the road for him to clean up. I've never seen state cops at posted checkpoints.
