Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |
Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
He's a she. "Cindydawg" (see my profile) and she's scared to death of water.
Well, she hasn't been back on the thread again in the last day or two... I don't know her well, she just stopped by saying she wanted to marry a rancher... name was lemondropkid or something. upthread where I was pingin' you. You were late. Might have missed the boat. Or maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the planters. ;~D
"You know since the prez has all that nice land he really ought to have a horse."
I agree!!! and he should hire me to take care of it. And I could teach him how to ride.

They are pricey, though, because they are fairly rare in this country. You'd probably pay 8-10K for just an ordinary one.
They do have the advantage of being perfectly rideable without an outcross, because they're a small draft breed.
Ouch, no wonder she does not like water. Glad that she belongs to you now. : )
Good. I am glad for ya! You two will have a lot of fun now that you can both ride.
I really want to get moving on getting another horse for ecurbh, and the truck and trailer. Torn between getting started with life, and saving to be able to afford life.
He's taken. Some girl named Laura:')
She has a home here for the rest of her life. She's very special :')
Ssssssssssh! don't mention all those planters. : )
Do both. Save half, spend half. It will take you twice as long to meet your goals but you will enjoy the journey more:')
You have so much room you could probably get by without the truck and trailer right now, couldn't you? With your experience maybe you could pick out a good adoption horse? They aren't pricy.
WoW, what nice horses!!! Pretty land too. I love everything green.
Neat!! That horse has a lot of color. I love those kind.
We really need all three. It's pretty boring to just ride here, that's why we don't do it very often. I'd love to have the trailer so we could just up and go. But given the time of year, maybe horse first, and truck and trailer by next spring. Trails are closed all winter anyhow.
There she is.... ;~D
I have always been suspect of those two Bush girls, growing up around a ranch and not wanting horses!
I rode a belgian quarter cross and he was wonderful. He wasnt all that big, but nice and solid and very smart. My riding instructor has all kinds of warmbloods. They are wonderful animals.
Eddie and I are riding tomorrow. I'm going to ride Okie awhile first . It's been a week. He wants to start out on the mare. We are just going to stay on the grass awhile. I think Okie would be easier to ride but.......If he does ok and comfortable maybe we can take some inner trails.
