Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
We're going to need pictures! I thought the divider would be closed straight across. I can't believe she really won't fit. She may be reluctant, but I would bet what she needs is to be pushed in.... You can't lead her when she can just stretch her neck to the divider. I'd just get behind her and poke her a bit in the butt and 'encourage' her. I bet you won't need to be rough with her. Let her go diagonally or however she does it and close the door. You can tie her from the outside.
Look again at 5098. It's a good shot on how high it is and how hinged.
She's right.... it is high. And eddie is thinking about cutting off those bars? No real harm in that as long as he doesn't leave it sharp.
But the slant goes the wrong direction to be optimal, doesn't it? Will it pass all the way through perpendicular or is it too wide? Could you have the welds moved or are they the only place they can be??
Agreed.
Becky
I was patting her on the butt trying to get her to go. She tried. She would walk about three fourth and just stand there and when we would try to bring her in she would back out.
See the lock bar. Right above is 44 inches. He's thinking about leaving the structure bars up though. Hes going to cover the top in half PVC covered in foam. Yall think he needs to move the lock and make it straight?
Why was it made this way?
I wouldn't go cutting the trailer apart till you decide you want the horse.
Becky
Did you try going in with her?
Becky
Well, I don't like that it slants the wrong direction. I thought it would close straight across. You really don't want her nosed the other way, they are better facing the crown in the road than riding downhill. One thing to consider is taking it to a welder and having him put a slant panel (or turn yours into one) that hinges on the left like a real slant load trailer does. Look at one, and how they are made. A welder could make it work.
If not her (which it probably will be) it will be another. I need a 2nd horse ready to go by Oct.
Okie has so much room up there.... Is her space the same size?
I did. Same thing. I tried straight and at an angle. She just was having a hard time finding a place for her head. Then Eddie tried to lead with the lead rope thru the windows with me patting her bottom and making kissing sounds. It was like she hit a wall at the same distance each time. If yall think she can fit though I'll keep working on it though. Her nose touches the panel and she doesn't raise her head.
They are the same, exactly, just mirror. Look at the picture again. Okie wrapped in the round part. Sigh, Another problem:'). If I hall him slant the stable owner said we need to put a bar there to get him off the hitch.
??? Not getting this.
The assistant director of nurses and I share an office. Her boyfriend a welder. I'll talk it over with Eddie and maybe I can get him to fix it up for me.
Well, I just got put in my place about the boyfriend. "Let me see what, I can do first, okkkkkkkkkkkkk":"( lol
Huh. I can't believe that's a problem. Bay stands with his rear end in that curve when he's in my friend's trailer. How does the truck look when they are both in it?
LOL!
