Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
So prevent it but nothing to do afterwards?

Hey, liked your pictures too. The mare looks pretty good to me, as long as you are comfortable with her and she rides ok then there should be no problems.

Okie could have been jealous of the new mare. In time it should get better. If you had a crop or lead rope with you could have swatted him and told him to quit or stop. Just let him know that that behavior is unacceptable.

I'm just going by what the owner saying. She's increasing her food. She does look narrow across the front (compared to Okie of course:'). Her belly bigger though. I was afraid she was expecting but 2 people told me tonight shes getting read to cycle:'(
You have a 3 day weekend?
She's a pretty horse! I like hearing all about her.
Thanks. Something else I noticed was that she doesn't sweat like Okie. I can take the squeege to him if he did what she did under saddle. She was just barely damp.
Yessum, I have a 3 day weekend. Trying to talk my dad into a ride up to new hampshire. :-) Wish me luck. There's a music store there called the Fret Shop that we both like. I like the highway... :-) It's ok to putt around back roads if you're going for a Sunday ride, but the highway is much smoother. Might take either the panhead or the electra glide. I'm opting for the panhead. It's easier to sit. But then, I'm not the one driving. :-)
That's what I was thinking. I had her lead rope in my hand but I was jumping in the wrong direction. I thought later I ought to have popped him with his afterwards. (I let them graze before going back to the pasture with the lead ropes hanging.
That probably means that she's in good shape! :-)
I'm off too. I have work to do but I'm hourly and they don't want to pay me time and a half.
Which that? :')
I love 3 day weekends. :-) It's also great becaue I miss lab! yay!
Oh you mean the sweating. Yeah. She's from the hill country and probably adapting easier to the humidity. It was a big change for Okie.
hill country?
Central Texas. San Antonio area. Beautiful country.
