Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |
Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Thanks for the tip. You see that you got the #5000? That's a good size prize:')
Is the prize a "Planter?"
Just bragging rights :')
You are welcome. That is from experience and the last time I saw it happen, there was a railway crossing at the bottom of the hill. Luckily, when the trailer rolled backwards it jacknifed and backed off into a steep ditch beside the tracks. Yes, a train came about about twenty minutes later and if the truck and trailer had been on the tracks...........
Just what I needed. : )
Getting started
A little back stepping
The belly rules :')

The way that always worked for me was to walk beside the horse right into the trailer. The first time or two one may have been hesitant but it was never a big deal to them.
That looks like a great trailer you got... I'd be happy with one just like it! Did you get him all the way in? He looks pretty relaxed...
Well , see that might take awhile with this horse and I was losing my lite. I have to finish what I started. We really wanted to today but that's the Sat. morning lesson. We are going to start at day break and hopefully get him to walk in by dawn:')
No, I didn't want to push it because if he balked I'm would be in trouble come dark. There were several nights I made him work in the dark until we got him on the washrack and lot's of buggys. You can see all that stuff.
Yikes. Scary thought. All we have around here are concrete hills but I'm going to be spending some time in the Texas hill country.
I think patience is never wasted. Good luck tomorrow, and I think that's a great looking trailer!
er.... Saturday ;~D
Ok that's Okie. Now I have some more pictures I want to show yall. No captions. I'll come back and explain.
