Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
No, I'll take Trash. I asked Tami and she was fine with that. But I am worried about his shoes. I noticed one is a bit loose. But the guy that shoes for her is one of the friends Kristy is bringing with her.

Is he due?
I'm not sure really. I think from around Seattle. He worked for Boeing. Where's that at?
Becky
Hey There! Glad to see you back on FR. Horse thread here.... tell us what's new with you! And show us some pictures if you've bought any new planters lately!
I don't really know for sure. We've never discussed his shoes. I plan on mentioning it tonight when I talk to her. I hope she can get hold of the farrier and we can get him shoed before we go. But that would have to happen tomorrow, or he would have to do it Wed. with out me here which would be OK.
Becky
There's a couple of different Boeing plants, but both pretty near Seattle from your perspective!
??????

Never mind:) I figured out what that was about. I'm not awake yet.

Hello:)
Are these your horses?
Becky
What about who that is? Inge Cav is a guy who lives in Alabama. Runs a big herd of cattle there. He used to hang here, and I would run into him on horse threads, but he's been gone awhile. He just pinged me on another thread and I told him about this one.
He has/had draft horses and likes to restore old antique wagons. He also has a tendency to buy old rusty trucks that don't run, which I call "planters" because they sit and grow weeds up through them.
Want some coffee? :~D

I'm on my third cup, I guess it hasn't kicked in yet.

Hi.
No, I don't have any horses, I just take pictures of horses -- and everything else.
Oh, OK. Well we like pictures:)

The floor no older than 6 and looks in good shape but now that we have it home we can go over it good. It was in a bunch of grass. The guy had it for about 2 years and said he used it twice. He bought the horse for his son but the kid wanted to ride dirt bikes instead. I saw his (new looking) old bike. He said his dad just bought him a new one so I can see why he was selling the horse and trailer.
We have lots of rocks at our lake lot and I have to keep the riding lawnmower set high. Sometimes you still skim them though. Eddie usually has to change the blade yearly. He says it's cheaper and faster than sharpening.
Would pay off (for me) in peace of mind to have it looked at and serviced. Trailers get rain in sitting outside, and those wood floors are relatively easy to replace.
Take pictures of it! Mind if I asked what you paid for it? - Since we're gonna be looking!
I just love looking at these:')
Up against the sides is where they will usually rot out first because of rain coming in. But if it doesn't have floor mats it will probably be OK. Floor mats are great from the horse perspective but terrible for the trailer floor, unless you are very disciplined about pulling them out after each use. I'm not:(. Makes it hard for the floor to dry with the mats in.
