The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread

Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Is the last picture in 4374 looking off the cliff? you can see the water in the top right corner?.

I can't believe you took that.

You can see that road that circles that water. That is so cool, but it's soooooooooooooooooooooooooo far downnn.

This is the scariest looking picture, if that is the trail in front of you!

i am not sure, i just kept looking down to see if i could get pictures to show how high up and close to the cliff we were. i was concentrating on that alot and trying not to get scared of the height.

See that white that is around the brown spot. That's that water that smelled so bad:). That white is the gravel road. I'm pretty sure that's what that picture is of. That gives alot of perspective on how high we were.

Sure, it's supposed to be a joyful day! :o)

HMM. I don't know. Seems like a lot of creativity was going on :')

Seriously, I'm glad you had fun, and you are right.. Going slow is good.

OK - the trail comes down like in a switchback toward the center - I see it now. The pitch was scary looking if that was the trail straight away!

I can see the white road or trail in the upper right corner of the 'off the cliff' pic.

i was on the trai and that was the looking down below it is not part of the trail. maybe that makes more sense the grade of the cliff was almost straight down and the trail sort of went along the side of the top of the mountain. there was no where to get off the trail if someone was coming from the other direction. if you horse spooked and jumped the wrong way, you were going down the cliff.
maybe that made more sense i am not good at explaining things sometimes.

Oh - I see. It's deceptive to the eye! My eye saw it as looking ~up~ a bank, not down one. Nevermind me! :~D
