Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Could you please put me on your Horse Ping list. We just got a horse two weeks ago. A year old ha flinger gelding. He is so sweet. Just yesterday I went to my favorite second hand store with the kids and found a beautiful pair of leather boots with huge steel toes, brand new, never been used, for $3. Boy do I need those.

Great buy on them boots! Yes, yearlings are still weak in the 'don't step on me' rule.

Haflingers are a relatively small northern english breed are they not? And relatively uncommon. Have you ridden or had horses before?

Just took a nap, feeling a bit under the weather today. Maybe from the weather, its cool and raining here. Strange July.

Sorry you aren't feeling well, I am not ~really~ either. Feeling kindof sleepy and lazy. The two old hay guys are bringing help... two laborers from the shelter... Glad for the help, a little apprehensive about the risk of that.

My favorite was when we ordered hay from Quebec, and the delivery guy "didn't speak" English. Fun fun!

Hot and dry here. I Almost need a face mask to brush Okies belly:') I'm home. My son took the boys somewhere. Eddie at work and going to meet me at the stables at 5, the babysitter gone (for the day) Just me and peace and quiet. AWWWWWWWWWWW :')

I was just a little nervous about having laborers from the homeless shelter here on my property. I've worked with those guys enough to know they don't all have an honest lifestyle. These guys were nice enough, and got the work done quick! Will be loading pics in a minute.
