Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Nevermind. I saw the previous post. :-)
Not this one. I am wondering though if I can negotiate a 32 hour week perhaps and cut down on the number of commutes by a day.
Or maybe even 3,10 0r 12 hr shifts if possible? Long days and you don't get much else done but you get 4 days off.
4-10s would be OK, I have done that before - but if the workload allowed it, 4-8's would be better. It's a city government office job, so they wouldn't know how to cope with a 12 hour shift. My current thinking is to offer that as my availability and see! The money lost could be more than made up because I could keep my home job and work that on the off day.
You never know til you ask:') Won't hurt to check it out.
Just make sure you have access to the net so you can talk to me about horses at 10/12/2 :')
LOL! Will do!
LOL
Probably would be frowned upon in some parts of the country:) Very undiginfied for the poor goat.

How did your lesson go?
Bat? Is that like a crop whip?
Since you previously rode it probably won't take you long:') I have church tonight at 7 so I may try to get out there earlier today.
Have fun!
Ah, that's what I thought. We call them "crops" around here. I have one but didn't have a real use for it before now:') It's purple. It matches my purple short lunge whip (which I use) and my purple saddle :') THe owner bought several and thought of me when she saw it.
I used to use one on the school horses but Okie doesn't usually need it and the reins work fine. It was also a pain to carry it when riding for me, so I just had it in the corner.
Well Okie isn't fearful, just respectful of them :')
I just wanted to add to make sure you understand that I would use it on him if I needed to but it's not my first choice. I would prefer it to be a cue. For my safety I have to have him obey me but I have seen some horse owners that are very heavy handed with their horse. He has to respect me but I don't want him fearful and dread riding though. Right now he seems to enjoy getting out.
